Bernard Tomic has started off 2018 where he left off in 2017, with a recognition of his fine work as a Jerk.
Not satisfied with being involved in a triple dead heat for 2017 Jerk of the Year, he has wrapped up the first of the monthly awards for 2018, and looks set for a big year.
It was always going to end on the Jungle Celebrity show the way it did, and the earliness of the exit would have been short odds if any betting company could be bothered.
Just to be clear though, that Bernard Tomic was nominated for his pre-jungle work. His effort on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is likely to be enough to see him double down for February 2018 Nominations. And likely win again.
The monthly winners all automatically qualify for Jerk of the Year, so Bernard Tomic has got himself in the mix for back to back titles.
The voting was closer than expected, deserved veteran Jerk Nominee Channel Nein Cricket Commentary team polled strongly again, but have only the T20 series to further annoy the cricket public before winter. A new entry who came equal second was Jamie Zhu, and internet prankster who interrupted a Nick Kyrgios match. Anyone who is a bigger dickhead at Kyrgios is doing well and one to keep an eye on for future Jerk achievement.
Cristiano Ronaldo was next up, a man easy to respect but hard to like.
A sad case for humanity really with the parents who kept their kids hostage in the USA got less votes than a spoiled tennis brat, a spoiled soccer brat, a spoiled internet brat, and bunch of spoiled cricket brats who always want you to remember that they played cricket once. Always.
Salim Mehajer and Reader’s Choice Rafael Nadal were at the bottom of this month’s voting. Don’t forget you can suggest a Jerk for February anytime by contacting us via email at contact@thegurgler.com or via our Facebook page or Twitter @gurgler_the.
For now we all salute Bernard Tomic, winner of January 2018’s Jerk of the Month.
