EPL Matchweek 9 Predictions – Gurgler v Rainfall

Time for our weekly EPL bits and pieces plus our EPL Matchweek 9 Predictions.

After the big Liverpool v United game disappointed last week, we are hoping the big games this week provide a bit more to stay awake for.

It looks a tough week to pick outside the two Manchester games, but that won’t stop us supplying our tips and best bets in the hope of 100% success.

Before we get into what we’ve selected and our slightly absurd method of selecting opponent tips, here’s a few of our favourite things.

A FEW OUR OF FAVOURITE THINGS FOR THE EPL MATCHWEEK 9 AHEAD

FTA GAME in AUSTRALIAMANCHESTER CITY v BURNLEY 1AM EST – Manchester City are one of the best teams to watch in Europe right now, and are deserving table toppers. They look invincible right now, and Burnley’s visit should be another three points, on paper. Burnely are currently unbeaten way from home, and have beaten Chelsea and Everton and drawn with Spurs and Liverpool. Those 8 points are one more than they got for the whole of last season away from home. Progress, and maybe this game will be closer than most think.

WILL LEICESTER GET ANOTHER NEW MANAGER BOUNCE? – So Leicester have sacked another manager, will they get another new manager bounce? They sure need it as they are in the bottom three. They haven’t been too terrible this year, and will likely improve, but as good a manager a interim boss Michael Appleton is, they’ll probably need a bigger name to turn it around completely.

WAS CRYSTAL PALACE’S WIN A FLUKE? The return of Zaha means probably not, but they will need plenty more of those performances, and goals, if they are any chance at staying up.

SPURS v LIVERPOOL – Two teams always on the edge of greatness who never quite get there. Both come off great Champions League results midweek with Liverpool winning 7-0 and Spurs drawing with the mighty Real Madrid in Madrid. Liverpool have defensive worries and Spurs have Wembley worries, both have outstanding attacks. Let’s hope it is a better game than Liverpool v Ma United.

GURGLER’S EPL TIPPING COMPETITION

Each week we will put our tips up against an opponent, just like Lawro’s tips on the BBC Football website. But instead of having famous comedian and musicians we’ve never heard of, we put our tips up against a different type of opponent.

We determine tips based on some ridiculous premise or statistic, and we then see if arse truly beat class.

This week’s opponent is based on the nationality of players since we’re heading into an International break.

OUR EPL MATCHWEEK 9 PREDICTIONS

Onto our selections for the round ahead, with added scores to take on Lawro from the BBC. Our tips were great last weekend with 8 correct, can we do it again or better? Of course we can. We got one correct score too, and our bold predictions for score are alongside our weekly tips.

EPL MATCHWEEK 9 PREDICTIONS – USING RAINFALL AMOUNTS

Since our headquarters in South East Queensland has been receiving bucket loads of rain over the past few days, what better theme to use to based our opponents tips on this week.

The UK is famed for always having rain, but does one area rain more than another area, and does more rainfall lead to a better chance of winning? We aim to find out this week.

The UK Weather gurus only have the rainfall split into regions so we have to assign tips based on a region rather than the town itself.

Anyways, here are our opponent tips for the week, area and rainfall in brackets, we think it is mm for September.

DRAW – West Ham (Eng SE 71.6) v Brighton (Eng SE 71.6)
DRAW – Chelsea (Eng SE 71.6) v Watford (Eng SE 71.6)
MANCHESTER UNITED (Eng NW 175.5) to beat Huddersfield (Eng Mid 88.6)

NEWCASTLE (Eng NE 91.3) to beat Crystal Palace (Eng SE 71.6)
