This week saw the long awaited news of a Mundine v Green Rematch.
About bloody time we say.
Nothing better than two almost past it Boxing Heroes going at it for one last pay. And that’s exactly what the Mundine v Green Rematch is all about. Hopefully the bout can entice major sponsorship out of a major superannuation company, as this appears the only reason for the bout.
Not that the Mundine v Green Rematch won’t offer plenty for the fans either. It gives one more chance for everyone who hates Anthony Mundine to see him punched repeatedly by someone else.
But the big bout is usually disappointing, and so a very interesting undercard is a must to keep punters interested. Especially when Pay TV try and drag the bout out to as late as possible.
Here for your consideration is a set five potential undercards if The Gurgler was left in charge of evening activities.
Thankfully we are not, but our suggestions are still below in case.
THE GURGLER’S WISHLIST FOR THE MUNDINE V GREEN UNDERCARDS
MICHAEL CLARKE v EVERY EX TEAMMATE THAT HATES HIM
Given the never ending line up of those wanting to sink the boot into Michael Clarke following his book launch, we say let’s settle it once and for all.
In 10 rounds we assemble 10 of Michael Clarke least favourite admirers and they have 1 round each to punch out their frustrations.
It probably is unfair to have Michael Clarke facing 10 fresh opponents.
ELISEO SALAZAR v NELSON PIQUET
For a fight that lasted a little over three seconds, it is amazing how this stoush has lasted in the sporting memories.
Despite both men being much older, and not actually disliking each other, it won’t stop us attempting to organise the rematch.
Or we’ll just play the original a few times.

TODAY v SUNRISE
Why take the battle to the courts. Let’s take it to squared circle.
Today’s boast of being the Number 1 Breakfast Show in Australia headed for the courts during the week. Boring.
How about this for a list of fights within the fights. 6 Rounds to decide once and for all which Breakfast show is best. Like we cared before this bout.
KOCHIE v KARL
LISA v SAM
RICHARD WILKINS v NELSON ASPEN
STEVEN JACOBS v SAM MAC
CASH COW v BLOCK OF CASH
TIM GILBERT PUNCHED BY ANYONE
DAVID GYNGELL v JAMES PACKER
Every undercard needs a heavyweight bout, and here it is.
Normally no one would care about two older men wrestling on the streets of Sydney, except if they are ex son of Channel 9 owner, and ex Channel Nein CEO.
Pity Packer didn’t get a few more in at the time for the overbearing arrogance of Gyngell’s stint at the top of Channel Nein’s running of sport.
He now has the chance to land a few more.
MAN V FOOD
For a change of pace, instead of people punching each other, it will be about a man whose main problem will be punching one out.
Three of South Australia’s best restaurant all supply a meal of 1kg and over, and it is up to Adam Richman of Man v Food fame to eat them all.
The dramatic backdrop of a full Adelaide Oval is the perfect place. Who couldn’t see 10,000’s of fans cheering on the big fella as he devours a 1kg Tomahawk cut of Beef.
UPDATE – ACTUAL UNDERCARDS
Finally, some real news of the actual undercards. We wrote the above months ago before any undercards were known. And we still stand by these should be the ones.
The actual undercards look good. Perhaps providing better value for the $50 outlay.
There’s some proper boxers, Twins double headers, names you know and Quade Cooper taking on a kickboxer.
Maybe our above suggestions aren’t that ridiculous then.
Mundine v Green Rematch Undercards
Trent Broadhurst v Nader Hamdan
Brisbane up and comer v Man who has taken on The Man
Andrew Moloney v Renoel Pael
Jason Moloney v Marco Demecillo
Double Header Moloney Twins v The Phillipines
Tim Tszyu v Mark Dalby
Son of Kostya v Son of Mr and Mrs Dalby from Adelaide
Quade Cooper v Jack McInnes
Man who kicks for a living v a man who has previously kickboxed for a living. Cooper looking to follow the Man into the ring full time? And be as disliked?
