Another week and another big pile of English Football, just the way you like it.
EPL ROUND UP
One question in Football at the moment – is Diego Costa the Michael Ennis of English Football? Pretty close, except in the Spaniard/Brazilian’s case he received a punishment from being a serial pest. After the match mind you, and not before Mourinho inflicted yet another loss on Arsene Wenger. Nothing like an Arsenal game to get Chelsea back into form.
Elsewhere only one unbeaten team remain, and they have the name City, but it’s Leicester not Manchester after the EPL leaders were beaten at home by the other surprise packets of the season so far West Ham. The Hammers have now seen off Arsenal, Manchester City and West Ham away, some kind of feat, and maybe a window into the future when the East London club take over the Olympic Stadium for next to nothing and have 60,000+ fans every match.
At the bottom end of the scale the north east of the country are going very ordinary. Surely with the size of Newcastle and Sunderland both won’t stay in the bottom three, but given the way they are going right now it is a possibility. And one none of the Championship teams will look forward to, as it’s hard enough to get promoted without big EPL clubs dropping down.
EPL UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS
SPURS v MAN CITY – Early game on Saturday night, biggest name match up of the weekend.
LEICESTER v ARSENAL – 4th v 5th at the start of the year? Maybe for Arsenal.
NEWCASTLE v CHELSEA – Mourinho has a poor record in Newcastle, not as poor as Newcastle are going probably.

FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROUND UP
Brighton continue to surprise and lead the Football League from a gaggle of usual suspects and last year’s EPL rejects, Middlesbrough lead the chasing pack. Blackburn and Rotherham both won their first games of the season last weekend, but Rotherham remain last.
League One sees a whole bunch of lesser known, lesser fancied team heading the table. Topping that is Burton Albion promoted from League Two last year, and other more obscure teams like Walsall, Gillingham, Rochdale and Bury. Blackpool remain last and are joined by Crewe and two teams currently without a permanent manager in Oldham and Doncaster.
League Two has most of the pre season fancies in the top 4 – Leyton Orient, Portsmouth, Plymouth and Wycombe. Well, the teams we had our money on. Right at the bottom is the team with the worst results in the Football League – Newport County – who have yet to win a game.
