EVERYDAY NEWS – The Nostalgic Weekends

A newly married Brisbane man has been pleasantly reminded of his old partying days.

While on a Saturday shopping trip with his wife, Peter saw a group of young men hauling a trolley full of beers and was transported to his youth.

“Mate, I bet those boys are stocking up for a raging house party where they stay up until dawn and beat the hangover with a greasy Sunday morning brekkie,” he said.

“My uni mates and I would have house parties every few weeks. We’d pool our cash together, get as much piss as possible, order pizzas, and spend the nights playing video games or watching shitty movies. It wasn’t massive, but we had fun, and it was better than blowing our money in a loud, expensive nightclub.”

Now married for six months, Peter has swapped his fun Saturday nights for more sedate ones.

“The misso and I will order in, have a few drinks, I’ll watch the footy, and then we’ll watch a movie or binge a TV show. Then, if we’re still in the mood, we’ll go to bed and…y’know…”

While Peter is still in touch with his old uni mates through a Facebook Messenger group, they haven’t caught up properly in ages.

“We’re all married now and living all over the country. We made rough plans to catch up over Christmas the other year, but it fell through. These things happen. We’re still mates, so that’s good.”

Everyday News is a brand new general news/parody section of The Gurgler, and definitely not a lame rip-off of ‘The Betoota Advocate’. We swear.
