2023-24 English Premier League Week 8 Predictions – Match by Match H2H Stats Previews
Our big, beautiful full visual preview of each game is below.
More stats than you could probably ever want or need, for now.
SATURDAY 12:30PM – LUTON v SPURS
THE STAT/S
Spurs (W5 D4) have not lost their last nine games v Luton. The last Saturday game between these sides (1991) pre-dates the Premier League.
OUR PREDICTION
Luton 0 Spurs 4
OUR THOUGHTS
Can the Ange-Ball revolution continue against the stoic Championship-ness of Luton Town. Given their struggles against Sheffield United earlier, perhaps Spurs don’t like playing promoted clubs. Well, it you discount the thrashing of Burnley earlier in the season.
SATURDAY 3:00PM – BURNLEY v CHELSEA
THE STAT/S
Chelsea (W7 D2) are unbeaten in their last nine games v Burnley. Chelsea have also won five straight at Burnley.
OUR PREDICTION
Burnley 0 Chelsea 0
OUR THOUGHTS
So Chelsea won a game, and so did Burnley. A corner is waiting to be turned for one team. It would be funnier if that team was Burnley. There’s only 700M difference in squad market value between the sides according to TransferMarkt.
SATURDAY 3:00PM – EVERTON v BOURNEMOUTH
THE STAT/S
Everton have not yet beaten a bottom six side this season (D1 L2) and Bournemouth are yet to play a bottom six side.
OUR PREDICTION
Everton 2 Bournemouth 0
OUR THOUGHTS
Another relegation six pointer for Everton in consecutive weeks, and they gave away three points to Luton last weekend. Talking of three points, Bournemouth’s tally this season is 3 x 1 point, and are one of two teams left yet to win a game.
SATURDAY 3:00PM – FULHAM v SHEFFIELD UTD
THE STAT/S
Fulham (W4 D1) are undefeated in ther last five games v Sheffield United. And won their last three at home to nil. Fulham (W9 D1 L1) have lost just once in their last 11 games on a Saturday v Sheffield United going back to the 1950’s.
OUR PREDICTION
Fulham 0 Sheffield Utd 0
OUR THOUGHTS
The most Saturday 3pm clash of the round. One for the UK blackout period for sure. That might be unfair on both sides. There could be a goal in this game. Maybe.
SATURDAY 3:00PM – MANCHESTER UTD v BRENTFORD
THE STAT/S
Man Utd have won five straight at home to Brentford. Man Utd have played three London teams this season already and lost all three.
OUR PREDICTION
Man Utd 2 Brentford 0
OUR THOUGHTS
A match between two of the more disappointing teams this season. One of them has an excuse by living within their means and missing their star striker.
SATURDAY 5:30PM – CRYSTAL PALACE v NOTT’M FOREST
THE STAT/S
Nottingham Forest are unbeaten in their last six trips to Crystal Palace (W3 D3), Crystal Palace have won just one of their last ten at home v Nottingham Forest. Crystal Palace have never beaten Nottingham Forest in the Premier League (D3 L3)
OUR PREDICTION
Crystal Palace 0 Nottm Forest 0
OUR THOUGHTS
The most mid-table clash of the weekend. Crystal Palace may have used up all their interesting last weekend upsetting Man Utd.
SUNDAY 2:00PM – BRIGHTON v LIVERPOOL
THE STAT/S
Liverpool have won both of the Sunday games v Brighton by a combined total of 10-1.
OUR PREDICTION
Brighton 2 Liverpool 3
OUR THOUGHTS
This game should be all about goals. Out of the 14 games games played between these sides, just one has failed to see over 2.5 goals.
SUNDAY 2:00PM – WEST HAM v NEWCASTLE
THE STAT/S
Newcastle (W3 D1) are undefeated in their last four trips to West Ham.
OUR PREDICTION
West Ham 1 Newcastle 2
OUR THOUGHTS
7th v 8th with West Ham exceeding expectations as David Moyes exceeding pre-season guesses on his tenure. Newcastle are a bit hot and cold, so who knows what happens here. Probably Jarrod Bowen scores.
SUNDAY 2:00PM – WOLVES v ASTON VILLA
THE STAT/S
Wolves are undefeated v Aston Villa in their last five matches (W3 D2).
OUR PREDICTION
Wolves 2 Aston Villa 2
OUR THOUGHTS
The midlands derby when there really isn’t a proper one on offer. Interesting enough though, after Aston Villa pantsed high flyers Brighton last week, and Wolves defeated the even higher flying Man City. Interesting indeed.
SUNDAY 4:30PM – ARSENAL v MANCHESTER CITY
THE STAT/S
Man City haven’t lost a Sunday game to Arsenal since 2015, and it has been W6 D2 since, including the last five on a Sunday. Arsenal did have the best points per game record on a Sunday last season. For all their glory last season, Man City’s away record v big six clubs was W2 L3.
OUR PREDICTION
Arsenal 1 Man City 1
OUR THOUGHTS
The high quality clash in the prime broadcast slot, for UK viewers. A great real deal test for Arsenal and a check in for Man City after their shock loss to Wolves.
