2022-23 English Premier League Week 3 Predictions – Match by Match H2H Stats Previews
Our big, beautiful full visual preview of each game is below.
More stats than you could probably ever want or need, for now.
FRIDAY 7:45PM – CHELSEA v LUTON
Luton Town are unbeaten in four games v Chelsea on a Friday (W2 D2). Chelsea drew their only Friday game last season. Luton drew two and won one of their three Friday games in the Championship last season.
OUR PREDICTION
Chelsea 2 Luton 1
Possibly the biggest mismatch in history in terms of squad value. According to Transfermarkt website Luton’s entire squad market value is less than at least three Chelsea players by themselves.
SATURDAY 12:30PM – BOURNEMOUTH v SPURS
The last three games between these teams on a Saturday have ended 3-2, with two wins for Spurs and one for Bournemouth.
OUR PREDICTION
Bournemouth 1 Spurs 2
The Ange love-fest continues on the south coast.
SATURDAY 3PM – ARSENAL v FULHAM
Arsenal were the only team not to lose v London club last season (W10 D2). Fulham have the worst expected goals against this season with six goals, but have only actually conceded half of that. Fulham had the highest expected goals against last season too with 71, but only conceded 53.
OUR PREDICTION
Arsenal 4 Fulham 0
Despite winning both of their games so far, there’s a feel that Arsenal are underwhelming right now. That will change this weekend with Arsenal’s record v London clubs last season.
SATURDAY 3PM – BRENTFORD v CRYSTAL PALACE
The last four games between these sides has ended in a draw and four of the last five on a Saturday at Brentford.
OUR PREDICTION
Brentford 2 Crystal Palace 2
Draw then? How about 2-2 for a change.
SATURDAY 3PM – EVERTON v WOLVES
Wolves (W3 D1) are unbeaten in their last four v Everton. There’s one goal and zero points between these teams so far this season.
OUR PREDICTION
Everton 0 Wolves 2
This is your classic Saturday 3pm game these days. People will call this relegation six pointer, but in all likelihood on current form/luck, both of these teams will be relegated with a few weeks of the season to go. Everton could be done with five or six rounds left.
SATURDAY 3PM – MAN UTD v NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Man Utd have won the last seven straight v Nottingham Forest. Man Utd are currently the team furthest behind the expected goals compared to actual goals scored (-2.45 already). Forest’s away record was the worst last season (W1 D5 L13). Nottingham Forest were the only team not to win away on a Saturday last season.
OUR PREDICTION
Man Utd 2 Nottingham Forest 1
Man Utd’s expected goals and against make for interesting reading, unlike their results. Luckily to play themselves into form they welcome last season’s worst away team. Ironically thy meet Nottingham Forest in the week they get rid of Greenwood.
SATURDAY 5:30PM – BRIGHTON v WEST HAM
Brighton are undefeated in their last 11 games v West Ham. Brighton have lost just once in 11 home games on a Saturday v Everton.
OUR PREDICTION
Brighton 3 West Ham 0
Competition leaders Brighton have stumbled upon the greatest club strategy in footballing history. Sell best players for $100M+ and get even better. A joy to watch and watch leading the table. Talking of $100M+, none of that helped Chelsea beat West Ham last weekend, who eased pressure on David Moyes who could do with a smile.
SUNDAY 2PM – BURNLEY v ASTON VILLA
It’s one a piece for these teams for Sunday matches.
OUR PREDICTION
Burnley 1 Aston Villa 1
Aston Villa’s season roared into life with a thrashing of Everton. Talking of Championship clubs, they face last season’s champions Burnley, who missed last weekend when fellow ex-Championship side Luton’s ground wasn’t big enough.
SUNDAY 2PM – SHEFFIELD UTD v MAN CITY
Man City are unbeaten in 12 games v Sheffield Utd at home. Man City have won the last three games v Sheffield United by 1-0.
OUR PREDICTION
Sheffield Utd 0 Man City 4
Premier League draw making life reasonably easy for Man City with a second game in three against a promoted side. You do get the feeling it is only the margin, not the result to be determined here. Probably four with Haaland with three.
SUNDAY 4:30PM – NEWCASTLE v LIVERPOOL
Liverpool are unbeaten (W4 D2) in their last six visits to Newcastle.
OUR PREDICTION
Newcastle 2 Liverpool 1
A good test for both sides. Newcastle last weekend proved their oil money is not as good as Man City’s, yet. Liverpool still look like they need oil and were quite rusty v Bournemouth. Especially Mo Salah from the penalty spot and their defense.
