2023-24 Premier League Season Bold Predictions
ARSENAL PIP MAN CITY TO THE TITLE AS ERLING HAALAND MISSES MONTHS THROUGH INJURY
Arsenal put up a good fight last season, toying with their fans and the neutrals with a title tilt before fading late.
The Gunners have strengthened this season, on an already decent side. Declan Rice will be the missing piece of the puzzle of a side which has a strong and settled midfield. Kai Havertz is almost a luxury. Enough to get through the drop off that happened last season.
That drop off last season coincided with the usual Man City winning everything run, and so a title went begging. This season will be different we say.
We foresee Arsenal being even better in 2023-24 and winning the title.
Bolder still, we see a freak injury during an FA Cup game in January will put Erling Haaland out of action for two months and eat away at any title winning momentum that may have had. Try as they might, they can’t replace the goals, or the title.
LIVERPOOL SPEND FIRST TWO MONTHS OUTSIDE THE TOP EIGHT OF THE TABLE BEFORE FLYING IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON TO SECURE TOP FOUR
Quite a bit of change at Liverpool in the past season or so, and especially so in the most recent transfer window, with outgoings and incomings.
So our bold prediction for Liverpool is a very slow start before rocketing home in fourth place.
After the now standard 0-0 draw with Chelsea in week one, Liverpool will be very hit and miss for the first few months while bedding down the combinations.
Jurgen Klopp will just hold onto his job, then smile his way through the turnaround that leads all the way into Champions League places.
ANGE-BALL WILL EVENTUALLY WORK AT SPURS
Australian football fans will jump on board the Spurs train this season with Australian manager Ange Postecoglou in charge, and why not,it’s a big job for anyone, let alone the first Australian manager in the Premier League.
Ange seems to have success where ever he goes, and despite a few early slip-ups Spurs will be in the hunt for the top four early, and after a few signature key signings by Ange in January (including Ivan Toney) they will seal a top four spot – Kane or no Kane.
ASTON VILLA WILL WIN THE UEFA CONFERENCE LEAGUE
Unai Emery has won the Europa League four times, been runner up with Arsenal and made a Champions League semi final. Fair to say he has a decent European trophy pedigree.
And if West Ham can win the Uefa Conference League under David Moyes, an even better Aston Villa can do it as well.
BURNLEY WILL SURVIVE ON THE LAST DAY OF THE SEASON AT THE EXPENSE OF EVERTON
Everton have been flirting with relegation for a few seasons now, and their luck will run out this season.
Things will start off brightly enough with an easy-ish start to the season, but slowly the relegation line will draw closer and closer.
Our bold predictions is that Burnley – the former team of now Everton manager Sean Dyche will survive on the last day of the season at the expense of Everton. Burnley face Nottingham Forest on the final day at home, who by our bold prediction will already be relegated, Everton are away to Arsenal, who by our bold prediction will be in party mode of a winning title.
It will end one of the longest stays the the top tier.
LUTON TOWN WILL SURPRISE AND SURVIVE
Most people are tipping Luton Town to not only go down this season, but to finish last and with one of the lowest total ever. Even our own 2023-24 Season Predictions based on stats has Luton Town last with 27 points.
But we think between their old school ground, and old school tactics that they will annoy a good number of teams this season trying to play fancy football but aren’t quite good enough to do so.
There may not be a initial burst up the table like a Blackpool, Hull or even Ipswich Town fresh out of the second tier. But slowly and surely they will sneak to safety. Perhaps a little winning streak over the busy December-January period where other teams will tire.
WOLVES WILL BE FIRST TEAM RELEGATED, FOLLOWED BY SHEFFIELD UNITED
It can’t be a great preparation to the season with the manager moving on in the week leading into the first game week of the season. But here we are with Wolves. At least they have a plan with Gary O’Neil already in charge. But given he finished with four straight losses with Bournemouth last season, it’s not the most inspiring of hires. And it will go pear-shaped and Wolves will be gone with four rounds to go.
With our previous two bold predictions meaning two promoted sides will stay up, we could make the argument that all three promoted teams stay up for a second consecutive season. But we won’t. We say Sheffield United will go down in second last place. Not that they will be disgraced, and there is an argument for Nottingham Forest or even a Fulham to take their place. But we’re saying the Blades won’t be sharp enough in 2023-24.
…..AND SOME SHORT, SHARP ONES
BRIGHTON COULD IMPLODE THIS SEASON
Like many football fans, we loved watching Brighton, and so we fear that it is too good a thing and they will implode and plummet down the table. Maybe not relegation but within a sniff with a few months to go. More likely blow the Premier League away and finish top four.
HALF THE TEAMS WILL SACK THEIR MANAGER BEFORE THE SEASON IS DONE, NOTTINGHAM FOREST WILL BE FIRST, DAVID MOYES WILL FOLLOW.
Nottingham Forest did well to stay up last season, and it won’t be too bold a prediction to say they will struggle again this season. This will cost the Forest manager his job before the end of September. David Moyes will follow in October, and so on until half the teams have to look for new managers at some point. Most just before an itnernational break.
SOMEONE WILL POACH THOMAS FRANK FROM BRENTFORD AND THEY WILL STRUGGLE AFTERWARDS
Thomas Frank Frank has done a super job at Brentford and eventually he will catch the eye of another club in Europe. Maybe one of the big clubs in Italy. As such his loss will see Brentford go from plucky overachievers to lower midfield battlers.
