The Wooden Spooners – The Gurgler’s team of sporting insiders – have learned that Fox League’s flagship yak-fest and chest beating forum NRL360 will be put on hold this week, replaced by the Best of Hindy and Fletch, followed by the Best of Fletch and Hindy.
The reason for the temporary suspension of NRL360 is for many reasons, but critically related to a sharp decline in usual content.
First of all with the Wests Tigers annihilation of the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday provided the Tigers with a third win in four matches, and moves them off the bottom of the NRL ladder. This meant that the show (and website via the “Fox League writers”) have lost 33% of their content given that Tiger bashing was a staple.
Most fans won’t miss James Hooper, head of Tiger bashing department, pointing out about Jack Gibson and the front office either.
Nor will they probably miss James Hooper in general.
Secondly, with the Dragons have really stuffed the NRL360 producers and experts.
With the Dragons finally sacking Anthony Griffin, and looking more likely not to go with Shane Flanagan, Buzz Rothfield will no longer be able to push his mate (who won one premiership at the Sharks under controversial circumstances for which fines and bans were handed out) for the coaching position at the Dragons.
But the Wooden Spooners have been reassured by a source close to NRL360 who frequents the dumpsters in the Foxtel carpark next to the producer’s dumpster that Buzz wil lcontinue to push Flanagan for every other coaching position where someone is under pressure.
Viewers of Fox League will be disappointed with that news, as it means the former Sharks coach will continue on Fox League coverage.
Which means the current out-of-form teams Bulldogs and Roosters are up for a NRL360 grilling, but the team were too scared to mention Phil Gould’s name, and the fact that most rugby league fans already hate the Roosters meant that clickbait verbatim articles on the Fox Sports website the following days by the “Fox League writers” would receive minimal attention.
Penrith’s continued good form also removes a prod and poke opportunity. Although, one of the panel members who is currently unavailable due to an unsuccessful charity door knocking campaign, would have eaten up the Jarome Luai-touch judge moment.
Our source did also reveal that the NRL360 were considering actually providing an explanation into absent NRL360 talking head Paul K-nt that reflects a fair interrogation of behaviour that is at a minimum “a lack of class”, as they would with any other rugby league player that have scrutinised over the years, but decided against it due to high levels of hypocrisy.
Another option was to fill Geoff Toovey full of alcohol, stir him up and watch the fireworks.
So the safe option for viewers and crew was to can NRL360 for a week, and to let all the stories that would stuff with their usual rhythm pass and come back next week, fresher and ready to bad-mouth rugby league for another week.
