EVERYDAY NEWS – The Boxing Day Revival

After a long and exhausting lead up to Christmas, and an even longer – but perfectly fine – Christmas Day, all Peter wanted to do was sleep in and watch the Boxing Day Test. Instead, he had to endure another catch up with extended family, expecting to be bored silly by pointless conversations.

But his mood skyrocketed when his family arrived at a local park.

“You didn’t tell me we were coming here?” said Peter.

“You didn’t ask,” said his wife, Sarah.

On a comfortable mid-20 degree day, Peter spent a few hours playing on every piece of playground equipment, joined a few cricket games, and had a running race with some kids on the nearby beach.

“A few of the other parents gave me weird looks, like I was some creeper, but I didn’t give a s***. This is most fun I’ve had since my last indoor cricket grand final,” said Peter inbetween rides on the slippery dip.

“He’s always been a big kid at heart, so I knew he’d love it,” said Sarah. “He’s had a stressful Christmas as I’ve been flat out with work, so he deserved a bit of fun.”

A happy and tired Peter fell asleep in the car before spending a quiet evening watching the Test highlights and the Big Bash with a few beers, falling asleep about 11pm infront of the TV.

Everyday News is a brand new general news/parody section of The Gurgler, and definitely not a lame rip-off of The Betoota Advocate. We swear.
