The finals are fast approaching, and so NRL tipsters everywhere need more help than ever to pick a winner or eight. So here are our bold NRL Round 23 Tips and Stats Preview that you don’t even have to leave the toilet with your team mate to enjoy.

Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats, probably more than one could ever need or want.

We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.

This week we have based them on whatever day each team is playing on.

Short on inspiration already? Or looking for that edge to your tipping that no one else in your competition has? Well here are the Alternative NRL Tips for this round.

It’s been a long season and we had started to run out of ideas for an alternative tip. But this week is a goodun’.

We took every team’s winning % on each day this season and then compared the H2H winning % for each H2H on the relevant day. 

E.g. for Souths-Penrith we took both team’s winning % on a Thursday, and whichever team’s was better on the Thursday, they get the tip for this weekend. Friday for Cowboys v Warriors as so on.

2022 NRL Round 23 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Souths have lost all three Thursday games this season, including the last two by the exact same score of 32-12.

You could almost bank on Souths to score 12 points v Penrith. Not only have they scored exactly 12 points in their last two Thursday games, but also their last two games v Penrith and four of the last five Panthers clashes.

Going back to 2019, Penrith have won five Thursday night games in a row v Sydney clubs.

Warriors have won their last two games v Queensland sides. And five of their last seven v North Queensland.

Warriors are 4/5 v North Queensland on a Friday.

Melbourne are on a winning streak of 11 games v Broncos at all grounds with the last win for Brisbane in 2016. It is 11 straight wins for Melbourne at Suncorp Stadium and eight games straight v Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium on a Friday night with the last win for Brisbane in 2009 for both.

Melbourne have won 16/17 v Brisbane on a Friday night at all grounds.

Melbourne have won 27 of their last 28 games v Queensland sides. And their last 14 games on a Friday.

Melbourne have won 9/10 matches at Suncorp Stadium on a Friday.

Bulldogs last beat Parramatta on a Saturday in 2005. It’s been five losses in a row since.

Bulldogs have won 2/16 on a Saturday since 2020.

Bulldogs have won 2/4 at Commbank Stadium this season.

Manly have won seven games in a row on a Saturday, and all five Saturday games in 2022.

Cronulla last beat Manly at Brookvale in 2008. Since then it is a run of seven losses.

Roosters have won 15/16 v Wests Tigers going back to 2012.

Roosters have won all four home games v bottom eight sides this season. (Bottom eight at time of match).

Gold Coast have won three in a row v St George Illawarra.

St George Illawarra have never lost to the Titans in four games at Win Stadium.

St George Illawarra have lost six in a row v Queensland sides.

Newcastle have lost their last four Sunday home games by a combined 20-155.

Canberra have won five in a row against the bottom eight teams, including both games on a Sunday. One of which was a win against Newcastle.
