WOODEN SPOONERS – Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures

With hundreds of Victorian Optus customers without an internet connection on Good Friday, a Melbourne-based rugby league fan has been forced to take extreme measures to watch the Penrith vs Brisbane game.

While Adam is a loyal Fox League viewer (using his paid-for-itself-a-million-times-over Kayo account on his TV, iPad, and mobile), he’s been forced to watch Channel Nein’s Friday Night Football coverage like a pre-internet savage.

”I feel so dirty!” said Adam. “I only watch Nein when there’s no other choice: like Origin and the grand final. I always watch the Friday night game, and a little internet outage wasn’t going to stop me. What else am I gonna do, talk to my family like a loser? Or read a book? No chance! Because Victorians are idiots, the footy’s not even on the main Nein channel; it’s on Gem or some shit. Took me ages to find.”

Adam also has a plan for Nein’s regular ad breaks. “I’m gonna alternate between doing push ups and sit ups during every ad break! I should have 2,000 of each by half-time will be burning after 10 minutes! The worst part will be the 10 burpees for every time the commentary team plug one of Nein’s garbage shows. I’ll sleep like a rock tonight!”
