2021 F1 Season Power Rankings – R11 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix Ratings
Here is the breakdown of the best and blurst driver from the most recent race.
Esteban Ocon takes out our Power Rankings for the Hungarian Grand Prix, and why not. He secured a race win, beat his team mate in qualifying with a decent slot too. And took out our driver of the race.
Lewis Hamilton’s pole and decent end result means he ends up second for the Hungarian Grand Prix ratings.
Bottas was down with the Haas’ after his efforts.
Despite two poor races in a row, Max Verstappen has only dropped 55 to Lewis Hamilton, which isn’t bad considering he has a DNF and 9th as the two results.
Note that due to the disqualification Vettel lost his Race Championship points but keeps everything else associated with finishing second.
2021 F1 Season Power Rankings Progress – Martini Medal Driver of the Year
Here are the current overall standings for our Driver of the Year winner – the Martini Medal. Named in honour of one of F1’s most unsung heroes – Pierluigi Martini of Minardi fame.
- Max Verstappen remains well out in front of our Driver of the Year standing, despite being wiped out in two consecutive grands prix.
- Bottas dropped to 7th overall after his pinball antics in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
- Unsurprisingly Esteban Ocon was the big mover up the charts, gaining four places with his surprise win.
2021 F1 Season Power Rankings – Other Interesting Stats
In case everything we have offered up isn’t enough, here is the best of the visuals from the F1 season so far.
TEAM MATE H2H
Here are the H2H results for the season so far.
Note that for the race we only count it when both drivers finish, unless the retired driver’s retirement was self inflicted as judged by us.
- George Russell and Pierre Gasly maintain their 100% qualifying record over their team mates.
- Sergio Perez is currently the worst driver for H2H. Only once has he beaten Max Verstappen in race or qualifying.
QUALIFYING AVERAGE GRID POSITION + DISTANCE FROM POLE
So who is the most consistent qualifier? The closest to pole position overall time-wise? What’s gap between the team mates?
All of that is answered below.
But here are the barely interesting facts.
- George Russell failed to get out of Q1 for the first time this season. His team mate Nicholas Latifi has avoided a Q1 exit just once.
- The Alpine drivers have the same average grid position.
- Just the four drivers remain with a 100% Q3 record.
RACE – FIRST LAP NET PROGRESS
Who’s gaining or losing on the first lap? Well Kimi Raikkonen continues to be the first lap king, but the first lap shenanigans at the Hungarian Grand Prix has added some big scores to the field.
Here are the points of interest.
- Kimi Raikkonen is the only driver to have not dropped a place off the start. His worst return was a zero net movement five rounds ago.
- Lance Stroll saw his first negative first lap net result for the season at the Hungarian Grand Prix. He deserves that record be broken and the five grid place penalty for next race with his incompetence.
- Lewis Hamilton have bettered his grid slot just once this season. Sometimes it’s hard to do so from pole. But he was the only driver not to lose or gain a place in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
- Pierre Gasly has yet to gain a spot on the first lap this season.
FREE PRACTICE RESULTS
For no good reason in the Free Practice results. This week we added total laps covered in Free Practice.
And here are some points of interest.
- Nikita Mazepin has only finished a session of Free Practice outside of the bottom three twice.
- The two Ferrari drivers are top for total laps covered.
- Fellow Ferrari engine customers Alfa Romeo are last.
