20-21 Premier League Predictions Week 21 & EPL Preview

If you’re struggling to keep up with which game week it is, or who is playing who, and who is not, same for us. But that hasn’t stopped our Premier League Predictions Week 21 and Preview.

Our preview ambles through the available Premier League fixtures, with a bunch of visuals, stats and figures for some barely interesting reading.

So many games, it’s going to feel like unlimited football or football overdose. Either way is fine by us.

Some interesting games this weekend, with one of the biggest down the bottom as Fulham and West Brom meet for a genuine relegation six pointer. Talking of relegation, can Sheffield Utd beat the league leaders for a second consecutive match?

In between there should be some entertaining game with Leicester v Leeds, Liverpool v West Ham and Arsenal v Man Utd. If they’re all not too tired to put on a big show.

Why Everton can win

Everton have lost just one of their last eight games which has featured six wins. Newcastle haven’t won in nine games featuring seven losses.

Newcastle have scored just two points away to side higher than the bottom six scoring just four goals in those seven games.

Why Newcastle can win.

Newcastle won the fixture earlier this season.

Barely Interesting Stat:

Everton haven’t lost to Newcastle at home since 2010 when Chris Hughton was manager and the Magpies were freshly promoted from the Championship. Hughton was sacked three months later. But the game was the last time these two side met on a Saturday at Everton.

Even less interesting is the pattern of the last ten games on a Saturday between these sides (most recent first) – EVE NEW EVE NEW EVE NEW EVE NEW EVE NEW…So Newcastle it is then.

Why Man City can win

Man City have scored three times as many goals as Sheffield Utd, and almost a third of the goals conceded.

Man City are unbeaten in 11 and have won seven straight.

Why Sheffield Utd can win.

Surely beating Man City away is as easy as beating Man Utd away like their last start.

Man City don’t have a 100% record at home to the bottom six. They were held to a draw by West Brom earlier this season.

Barely Interesting Stat:

Sheffield Utd haven’t scored a goal against Man City in their last five league meetings. The last goal was back in 2002 when they lost 1-3 at home.

In 17 league meetings going back to 1992-93 (both EPL and Championship) Sheffield Utd have scored just six goals and won twice.

Why West Brom can win

The last time West Brom played a bottom six club at home they beat Sheffield Utd 1-0. Six home games ago.

West Brom have a win in the last six games beating local rivals Wolves three games ago. Fulham haven’t won any of their last nine games.

Why Fulham can win.

West Brom have taken one point from six games v London teams.

Fulham’s four goals in six away games is double the two goals scored at home by West Brom in their last six.

Barely Interesting Stat:

Only Burton (bottom in League One) have conceded more goals this season. Their 51 coming in four more games than the Baggies. Man City and Spurs have conceded fewer goals this season than West Brom have in their last six. Even worse, West Brom have conceded 22 goals in their last five home games.

Why Crystal Palace can win

Crystal Palace have more a more recent game than Wolves four games ago. Wolves winless streak is now seven games – only behind Fulham and Newcastle’s nine game stint.

Why Wolves can win.

Crystal Palace’s home form v any team higher than the bottom six is pretty weak.

Wolves’ record v London teams this year is very good and towards the top (4W 2D 1L)

Wolves have won the  past two fixtures and are undefeated in the last four matches on a Saturday.

Barely Interesting Stat:

Round 10 saw Wolves with four more points than Crystal Palace, it is the largest gap between these teams this season.

Why Arsenal can win

The Gunners have already beaten Man Utd this season.

Arsenal have won three of the last four matches v Man Utd with the other result being a draw.

Why Man Utd can win.

Man Utd are still unbeaten away from home this season (8W 2D)

Man Utd have a great record v Arsenal on a Saturday.

Man Utd are 2/2 for trips to London v London teams.

Arsenal have just one point in six games v top six sides this season.

Barely Interesting Stat:

Man Utd have lost just one game of the last 11 on a Saturday v Arsenal. The last six games is five wins and a draw.

SOUTHAMPTON v ASTON VILLA

Why Southampton can win

Aston Villa have lost both games to teams on the south coast this season. Includes the 3-4 loss at home to Southampton earlier in the season.

Aston Villa have lost their last three away games.

Why Aston Villa can win.

Southampton have a perfect record at home to the bottom six and top six, but average just 0.7 against teams in the middle eight (at time of playing). Aston Villa have a perfect record against the middle eight sides this season (3/3)

Aston Villa have scored nine goals in their past six games. Southampton just two.

Barely Interesting Stat:

Aston Villa haven’t beaten Southampton on a Saturday since 2005. The Saints have won six of the eight games since.

Southampton are unbeaten in five matches at home to Aston Villa on a Saturday with four of the matches ending in a draw. Southampton scored exactly two goals in four of those five matches.

Chelsea have a perfect record at home to the bottom six. Burnley average 0.2 pts per game to the middle eight teams.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last six v Burnley with five of those matches as wins.

Why Burnley can win.

Burnley do average 2 points per game against top six sides this season.

Chelsea have just five points and four goals in their last six matches. Only Fulham, Southampton and Newcastle have scored fewer.

Barely Interesting Stat:

There have been only two matches between these sides on a Sunday – Burnley haven’t won either (1L 1D)

Why Leicester can win

Leicester have a decent record against teams at home not from the top six.

Leicester won this fixture 4-1 earlier in the season. And the two previous matches v Leeds before that.

Why Leeds can win.

Leeds are unbeaten in the last four league matches at Leicester (1W 3D)

Barely Interesting Stat:

No team has conceded more goals away in the last six than Leeds. Although worth noting is that they have won 3/6 and are the equal top scorers.

Why Liverpool can win

Liverpool’s record v London clubs this season is 5W 1D.

Liverpool haven’t lost a league game to West Ham since January 2016. The record is 7W 2D after that loss.

Why West Ham can win.

West Ham have won their last four matches. Liverpool haven’t won any of their last five.

West ham have scored seven in their last five matches. Liverpool just once.

These two teams have met four times on a Sunday at Liverpool and West Ham are yet to win. (2D 2L)

Why Brighton can win

Brighton won this fixture last season at home 3-0.

Why Spurs can win.

Brighton are yet to win at home this season.

Brighton are also yet to beat a London side in seven attempts.

Spurs have scored seven goals in two games v South Coast sides.

Barely Interesting Stat:

Brighton haven’t beaten Spurs on a Sunday or in January
