FPL Captain Tips Gameweek 20 – CAPTAIN’S TABLE
Here we assemble the finest stats we can think of to get the best picture of who should wear the armband for your team.
It is a mix of current FPL form, historical goal scoring and assist form v opponents, relative FPL performance per their cost and the difficulty of their upcoming game designed by our in house difficulty ratings system.
Each category is given a weighting, and points assigned relative to that high point. Each category score is totaled for he final score.
The final score is out of 100, with that high mark being a rare occurrence of aligning suns, moons and planets of FPL.
THE VERDICT
This is a hard one, as there’s always doubts about Man City players starting, and Gundogan and Foden sit first and third on our Captain’s table. It’s hard to argue against their recent form, and both are great value. But will they start and in the best position? One would think yes given the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, but who knows with Pep.
The two Spurs players are up against Liverpool who used to be good but have won the last six v Spurs. Both certainly made the difference as Spurs eventually overpowered Wycombe in the FA Cup on Monday. Kane has the far better record against Liverpool and is a factor in every game. With the premium KDB gone, he might have a few more owners on his shoulders this gameweek.
There’s doubt over Marcus Rashford for fitness. But his stats hold up.
Michail Antonio looked good last double gameweek and is showing no real signs of being hampered on his comeback from injury. Crystal Palace away is also a very winnable game. Worth a shout for those differential hunters. Although West Ham captain punts don’t always work.
Mo Salah and his Liverpool chums are out of the top choices this gameweek, due to their recent poor scoring form. But there looked like light at the end of the tunnel in the FA Cup v Man Utd on the weekend. Salah does have a good record against Spurs.
Which brings us to Bruno Fernandes. He’s our pick for this week. His team have the Premier League’s easiest fixture, and although he looks tired from carrying Man Utd at times this season, he still has time for quality as shown in the FA Cup against Liverpool on Sunday.
