The NRL are set to give the struggling Sydney Roosters a much-needed boost.
In a huge act of generosity, the NRL will allow Sonny Bill Williams to join the Roosters for the rest of the season.
“The poor old Roosters don’t get many advantages,” said Peter V’landys, the chairman of the Australian Rugby League Commission. “They don’t get any Channel Nine games, and they haven’t had a lot of support since they were forced to change from Eastern Suburbs. They haven’t won a premiership in…”
V’landys suddenly stopped, breaking into a laughing fit that would make the Joker envious.
“I’m sorry, I can’t keep this up…The real story is Uncle Nick drove a dumptruck full of money to NRL headquarters so he could sign SBW. I’m not made of stone.”
In anticipation of the expected Roosters’ premiership hat-trick, Channel Nein are making a documentary, airing straight after the grand final, comparing the Roosters’ feat to Parramatta’s hat-trick in the early eighties. The two-hour special will be hosted by Roosters and Nein legends Brad Fittler and Phil Gould.
