Embarrassed by yet another Bunker error, NRL head of football Graham Annesley has issued a stunning press release on the NRL website:
Dear NRL fans,
Yep, we stuffed up again. We’re sorry. We can’t promise that it won’t happen again, because it probably will. Have you seen those clowns in the Bunker? I thought Parliament House was bad. Hey-ho!
Anyway, consider this letter our blanket apology for all Bunker stuff-ups between now and the end of the season. We know you’re all frustrated, but the Bunker was very expensive and we can’t turn back now. It’s like that expensive Christmas present you’d nagged for parents for since September. You got it, but it broke by Christmas afternoon. Rather than confess and be grounded for the rest of the holidays, you keep on playing with it and pretend that it still works.
So, when your team gets the wrong end of shocking Bunker call, remember this:
We’re sorry. We didn’t mean to cost you the game, but we can’t build a time machine and fix our mistake. Though that would be cool. How good are the Back to the Future movies? Or the Bill and Ted movies? Seriously, I’ve never seen them.
No matter how frustrated you get, please don’t abandon the NRL. The AFL is boring and the Wallabies are terrible, so what else are you going to do? You can quit in a huff and say you’ll never watch another game after the Bunker robs your team of certain victory, but you’ll be missing the game by Sunday night and you’ll spend the evening watching the highlights packages on the NRL website. You know it’s true.
So, consider this letter our advanced apology/ies, and know that it won’t make any difference. It’s going to be a Sydney Roosters v Melbourne Storm grand final anyway: #eaststowin.

P.S. If we wanted to, we could give the losing team a point after an officially acknowledged Bunker stuff up, but that’s going to be a lot of paperwork and we just can’t be bothered.
