Another week, another Thursday night with the Broncos, another action packed weekend of NRL, so there’s another edition of weekly stats look ahead with our NRL Round 6 Preview with Barely Interesting Stats & Stuff.
There are plenty stats below, enough for every game, and give every team’s fans some hope for the NRL Round 6. More than one could ever need. Or want.
Along with all the stats we have our tip for each game. Which are usually quite mediocre, proving stats don’t mean anything some times.
In case you are interested, all records go back to 1998 unless otherwise stated.

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS v BRISBANE BRONCOS
BARELY INTERESTING STATS
Newcastle have lost six of their past seven games at Central Coast Stadium.
Every time Newcastle have scored more than 20 points at Central Coast Stadium, they have won (5).
Newcastle have played on a Thursday once in the NRL, in 2012, and they lost. This makes them the side to play on Thursday the least. Just above them are fellow Channel Nein rejects Warriors, Gold Coast and Canberra.
Newcastle have won their last three matches against Queensland sides.
Brisbane have played the most Thursday games with 38. Their winning % has dropped to 52%.
Broncos have lost their past two away games to the Knights.
Brisbane have lost their last three and five of their last six games against sides from NSW.
Broncos have now lost their past two at Central Coast Stadium – five years apart and both against Manly.

Souths have won nine of the last ten games against the Warriors.
Souths have won all four Friday games against the Warriors, however Souths have lost their last four Friday games against all opposition.
Souths have won the only two 6pm kick offs.
Although it doesn’t exist right now, the Warriors have a 4-1 record at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Last weekend’s win over the Gold Coast was the first in four attempts at Bankwest stadium. The Warriors are 0/1 after losing 24-22 to Parramatta last season.
Warriors have won just one in their last nine away games to Sydney sides.
MOST BARELY INTERESTING STAT/S
Only one of the last 11 games between these sides has been in NSW. As Souths usually take this game to Perth or the Sunshine Coast.

Melbourne have a superior H2H record in most areas, so the most interesting are:

Melbourne lead 14-3 for 7pm-8pm kick offs
Penrith have won just two games in the past ten season against Melbourne
Penrith lead the way for metres gained during matches, and are just shy of the 10K mark. James Fisher-Harris is sixth on the list for players and the first forward.
Penrith have also made the fourth most amount of tackles.
Melbourne are 2/2 at Campbelltown but haven’t won there since beating the Wests Tigers 28-6 in 2014.
Penrith are just 3/8 at Campbelltown.
Penrith have won just two of their last nine games against teams from outside NSW and NZ.

Dragons are 7-1 ahead for 3pm kick offs.
The Dragons have won the past four clashes with the Gold Coast and scored 40+ in three of those wins.
Titans have won all three games at Suncorp in June.
Titans have won four of their last six games at Suncorp.
This is a repeat of the Titans very first game in the NRL – against St George Illawarra at Suncorp Stadium. The Dragons won that 20-18.
Dragons have won two of their past three matches at Suncorp. Prior to that they had lost 11 in a row at the ground.
Dragons have won seven of their past eight games against Qld sides.
Titans have lost their past 14 Saturday games.

Cowboys lead 21-13 for line breaks, but are 70 tackle breaks behind competition leading Wests Tigers (196)

Alex Twal has made 90 more tackles than any other player from these two sides. He is the competition’s leading tackler.

Eels captain Clint Gutherson is only four metres shy of Tedesco for total metres run, although the Roosters fullback has played one less game.

Roosters have won more double the 7pm to 8pm kick off matches (13-6).
Roosters are only 2/4 against Sydney opposition this season. Both losses were on a Saturday.
Parramatta have won their last five against Sydney teams.
