Alternative NRL Round 3 Tipping Method – Winning in May

The NRL season is back, and so is NRL Footy Tipping. But being so long since rugby league was on it is hard to remember your Billy Magoulias’ from your Tino Fa’asuamaleaui’s, so then allow us to help you with our NRL Round 3 Tipping Method.

Instead of allowing the competition admin to give you away teams for when you don’t care, why not take on board our weekly Alternative NRL Tipping method. Each week there will be a new theme, and occasionally it will have nothing to do with rugby league. Just the way we like it.

This week’s Alternative NRL Round 3 Tipping Method is all about which team performs best in May.

Given this weekend’s games are the only ones in May for the season, it is imperative that your team can perform in May for this Round 3’s one off.

Our theory is that a team who has a better record in May is more likely to win this weekend. So H2H, the team with more May wins, gets the tip.

May the May winners flow for you this weekend with our alternative NRL Round 3 Tipping Method.

Best of Barely Interesting NRL Round 3 Stats

Our full preview below has loads of barely interesting facts (link below), and we’ll bring the best of them here for you for your NRL Round 3 Tipping pleasure.

  • In their last 12 away games to non Sydney teams, Parramatta have conceded between 17 and 20 points eight times. They also conceded 64 in one game.
  • Jason Taumalolo has run 20% of the total metres run by the entire Gold Coast team.
  • The Roosters have lost just two matches in the last 21 against Sydney opposition – home or away.
  • We are surprised that the record between NZ Warriors and St George Illawarra is 3-2 when the games have been played on Channel Nein. Not for the H2H record, but the fact that there has been as many as five matches between these sides shown on Channel Nein since 1998.-
  • The Sharks seem to like May, they have won 13 of their last 14 games in May.-
  • There has been just one regular season game between Melbourne and Canberra since 1998 on Channel Nein.-
  • Bulldogs have a 7-2 record at Central Coast Stadium, Manly are even better with 13 wins in 16 matches. Ironically, the 81% win record for Manly at Central Coast Stadium is way better than the Northern Eagles record at the same ground (47%).
