Last Week – Fantasy Premier League FPL Preview Gameweek 3 – Quick Round Up

Before we go on with our Fantasy Premier League FPL Preview Gameweek 4, how about a quick check up on last weekend. It may help you this weekend.

THEMES:

  • Liverpool and Manchester City are really good. No surprise there of course.
  • Manchester Utd’s loss to Crystal Palace proves they can’t be trusted for FPL.
  • Norwich are the team for cheapies and entertainment. Don’t be too late to arrive for the Pukki party.
  • Chelsea’s younguns finally came good, and Mason Mount looks nailed for the season. Abraham needs a couple more decent games like the Norwich one to be fully trusted.
  • West Ham’s Haller show that his goalscoring exploits may transfer from Germany to London.
  • There’s a fine line between a side who are great because they don’t concede and a side who stink because they don’t score. (Everton)

HEROES OF THE WEEK

TEEMU PUKKI – Liverpool? Chelsea? Who cares. Keeps scoring. Party time.

FPL JERK OF THE WEEK

JOTA – for continuing to score in other comps but not Premier League..

SPURS – Plenty would have loaded up on Newcastle, but they continued their great record against Spurs on a Sunday. Their win rate is over 60% now.

Fantasy Premier League FPL Preview Gameweek 4 – Captain Choices

This week’s Captain choices seems  as ever to come down to Man City and Liverpool, given their easier fixtures against Brighton and Burnley respectively. But as ever, which one do you take for each side.

The player’s records against the various sides are good but not outstanding, but then you have to factor in recent form.

Harry Kane’s record against Arsenal is quite good, and leading our table below. Aubameyang’s record against Arsenal isn’t bad either. One for the Non City-Liverpool players.

Here is our table of stats heading into the FPL Preview Gameweek 4.

WE SAY YES

Salah, Sterling, KDB, Kane

WE SAY NO

Pogba. Out of form and no goals / assists v Southampton.

LEFT FIELD

Firmino

Fantasy Premier League FPL Preview – Difficulty Factor

Our measure below is for the next three games to give you a little more term thinking.

Pukki is the big change in the Top 20, as people rightly stop looking at the fixture list and watch the goals. Kelly and Button are still high up on the list.

Something new this week. This graph features the same players as above, except we applied the change of ownership for interest.

How about seeing which teams have the most players selected. No real surprises really.

No surprise Pukki is the highest mover. Loads of Bournemouth and some big names in the bottom 10 for ownership change.

Changes are from the previous Gameweek.

Fantasy Premier League FPL Preview Gameweek 4 – Quick Match by Match Thoughts

If the graphs weren’t enough, how about our FPL thoughts from our full Premier League Week 4 preview provided here.

SOUTHAMPTON v MAN UTD

A cheapie from either side worth considering are Nathan Redmond and Daniel James. Southampton’s Redmond has turned into a decent point scorer since December last season, scoring 7 goals and 4 assists in the league, and more in the Cups. Daniel James was a star in the Championship for Swansea last season – and he scored more than half of his 18-19 goals and assists from March. Two goals in the Premier League in three games is an outstanding start.

If you were considering bringing in Paul Pogba – he has scored 0 goals/assists in five games v Southampton.

QUICK FPL STATS – Redmond – Price 6.4 Form 4.7  — James – Price 6.0 Form 4.3

WEST HAM v NORWICH

Pukki v Haller provides a direct comparison between two of Fantasy Premier League’s top cheap forward options. Both were high scorers in their respective leagues last season. Pukki scored 29 Goals 10 Assists in 43 Games in the Championship, and has gone on to produce that form in the EPL, against Liverpool and Chelsea no less.

Haller scored a double last weekend, his first full game that wasn’t against Man City. Proving his 20 Goals & 12 Assists in 41 Games in the Bundesliga can translate. He is fifth in xG this season with 2.08 – which is not bad given he missed Week 2 and played Man City in Week 1.

Take one, or why not both.

QUICK FPL STATS – Pukki – Price 7.0 Form 11.7  — Haller – Price 7.4 Form 5.0

LEICESTER v BOURNEMOUTH

Although we are hanging onto Youri Tielemans for now, James Maddison impresses more every week, and could well be worth the extra bit of spend.

Harry Wilson has scored some magnificent goals, but can he maintain it? Leicester do give away a few fouls, and surely the new Wilson is the chief free kick taker now.

MAN CITY v BRIGHTON

Presuming most have at least one Man City player in the midfield or forwards, who do you captain? And compare this game to Liverpool’s game v Burnley for more consideration.

NEWCASTLE v WATFORD

Hard to pick anyone here with confidence in your FPL side, but here goes.

Andre Gray has scored in the both of the last two Watford wins at Newcastle. He scored last weekend in their 3-1 loss to West Ham and costs just 5.9.

Forgotten Fantasy man from Everton – Gerard Deulofeu (cost 6.3) – has had as many shots this season as Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Anthony Martial.

CHELSEA v SHEFFIELD UTD

Is John Lundstram this season’s outstanding cheapie. 19% are already on board the Blades defender. He has 17 points in three games this season and should have scored last weekend against Leicester except for a super saved from Schmeichel. At a cost of 4.2 it is almost a no brainer.

CRYSTAL PALACE v ASTON VILLA

John McGinn is the Aston Villa midfielder of choice at a cost of 5.6 and leading the points tally for Villa with 15 points. But for 0.4 more there is Jack Grealish, who looked super last weekend, and can’t be too far away from a big bag O points. As it stand he is only  points behind now.

BURNLEY v LIVERPOOL

Surprisingly, the two wide Liverpool defenders don’t have very good stats against Burnley, with 0 assists or goals in 9 combined games against Burnley.

And Roberto Firmino has the best goals per game strike rate v Burnley of the big three. 3/3 (Salah 1/2, Mane 3/5)

EVERTON v WOLVES

Jota needs to score more where it counts for Fantasy players. He has looked ordinary so far in the league, wasting some great goal scoring chances. Especially with a breakaway.

He did finish off the season well last year, so perhaps it is early nerves, but that excuse won’t stick for long.

Jiminez did score two goals in two games for Wolves v Everton last season. He is behind the Pukki party in the cheapie forward stakes at the moment, and scored last weekend. His cost of 7.4 is still decent value.

Fantasy Premier League FPL Preview Gameweek 4 – Our Team

Still here? How about looking at our side.It wouldn’t be fair on us to hand our advice without putting our proverbial FPL money where the mouth is, so to finish off our Fantasy Premier League FPL Preview Gameweek 4 is our FPL side for this weekend.

Two changes this week. Lundstram in for his teammate O’Connell. We reckon more goals – a – coming from the Blades surprise point scorer.

You are on notice too Jota. One more stink-fest and you’re outta here.
