The weekend is here, and that means way too much European Football to keep up with, so we offer up our quick European Football Highlights for the weekend. A weekend that features probably the biggest game of the European competitions – Barcelona v Real Madrid.
Some might call it hipster football, we don’t, it’s pure sports and football goodness. Gives us an Eibar, Sassuolo, or Borussia Monchengladbach any time.
And too much football is barely enough we like to say.

Quick European Football Highlights – The Matches
It’s not all about El Clasico this weekend, so here are a few more games worth keeping an eye on. Most of them are after midnight on Sunday night in Australia, making for a very tired start to the working week.

SATURDAY
BUNDESLIGA – BORUSSIA DORTMUND v HERTHA BERLIN
Bundesliga leaders Dortmund are playing some of the best football in Europe, and are a refreshing change at the top in Germany after what feels like a decade of Bayern dominance. A showdown between those two is a couple of weeks away. Their opponents Hertha Berlin are sixth and have conceded just as many a Dortmund. But have only scored half as many. Still they are only five points away.
Prediction: Draw 3-1

SATURDAY
LIGUE 1 – MONACO v DIJON
Normally a match between 16th and 19th wouldn’t be worth including in the quick European Football Highlights, but Monaco have put all their survival hopes in big name Thierry Henry. Didn’t help last weekend as they lost, but are helped this week by facing the only team with worse form than them.
Prediction: Monaco 2-0

LA LIGA – CELTA VIGO v EIBAR
Our token game with out fvourite Spanish team. They are starting to pick up too.
Prediction: Eibar 2-1

SUNDAY SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP SEMIS – HEARTS v CELTIC
A head to head between first and second in the Scottish Premier League with a big surprises – one team leads by six points and it is not Celtic, it is Hearts from Edinburgh. This is for a spot in the League Cup Final, but they do meet again in next weekend in the league. Make it a double-header with Aberdeen v Rangers to follow.
Prediction: Hearts win on penalties.

SUNDAY
LA LIGA – REAL MADRID v BARCELONA
The big, big game of the weekend. Unbelievably, Real Madrid come into the game without a win in four games, and just got past Viktoria Plzen in midweek Champions League action. They could hardly be in worse form. Barcelona may be top of the league (just one point ahead of Alaves and Espanyol) but they haven’t been setting the world on fire and don’t have one Lionel Messi either. Could be quite the fizzer sadly. If it is only a fizzer of a result for Real Madrid, they will be on the search for a new manager come Monday.
Prediction: Draw 1-1

SUNDAY
SERIE A – NAPOLI v ROMA
Two big teams in 2nd and 7th, but separated by 7 points already. Both teams had decent results in the Champions League during the week. An important game this weekend, as a loss for Roma could see them 10 points behind Napoli second, with Juventus far away in front.
Prediction: Napoli 3-1

SUNDAY
LIGUE 1 – MARSEILLE V PSG
A match up at the other end of the table to our other French European Football Highlights. PSG are as dominant as any team in Europe, but their 10/10 league wins aren’t quite translating in Champions League points. This weekend we will see if the 4th placed Marseillie can cause the Multi-busting upset.
Prediction: PSG 3-1
