Barely Interesting Premier League Stats Week 17

Help yourself to a buffet of barely interesting stats to help pick a winner.

AVL v MCI – Man City have failed to win on their last two trips to Aston Villa in the Premier League (D1 L1). Aston Villa have scored exactly one goal in the last five home games v Man City. Man City have a terrible record v teams in the middle eight this season (at time of fixture not current ladder) with W1 L4. Aston Villa’s record v big six clubs this year isn’t any better – D1 L3. Aston Villa and Man City have lost the same number of games in the Premier League this season with five.

BRE v NFO – Brentford are one of just two teams left this season that are undefeated at home with Arsenal. Brentford have scored a season best 26 goals at home this season, while Arsenal have scored nine fewer. But Arsenal have conceded eight fewer goals at home than Brentford (6 v 14). Nottingham Forest are third for away points scored this season. Brentford are undefeated in six games v Nottingham Forest (W3 D3). There have been eight goals scored in the last two games between these sides at Brentford. To go with the 40 goals in eight games at Brentford in all games this season.

IPS v NEW – Ipswich won their last home game v Newcastle back in 2017 when they met in the Championship. Ipswich have only lost three home games v Newcastle on Saturday (W11 D3 L3). Newcastle are undefeated against bottom six clubs this season (W3 D2) and are 2/2 v promoted clubs. Ipswich are the only team yet to win at home this season.

WHU v BHA – Five of the last six games between West Ham and Brighton in London have ended in a draw. West Ham have only lost one of nine home games v Brighton on a Saturday (W5 D3 L1). Brighton (D1 L2) are yet to win on a road trip to London this season.

CRY v ARS – Arsenal have won four straight v Crystal Palace and by the combined score of 11-1. Crystal Palace have only ever won three of 27 home games v Arsenal (W3 D9 L15). Arsenal (W2 D1) are undefeated v bottom six clubs this season (at time of fixture) and are also yet to lose v London clubs (W2 D2).

EVE v CHE – Everton have a great recent record at home to Chelsea (W5 D1 L1). Plus it is three wins in a row without Chelsea scoring at home on a Sunday. Chelsea are W3 D1 v bottom six clubs this season. Everton are D1 L2 v big six clubs.

FUL v SOU – Southampton are undefeated in two Sunday games v Fulham. Southampton have lost both of their Sunday games this season, while Fulham have drawn both of theirs. Southampton have lost all four games so far this season v London clubs.

LEI v WOL – Going back to 1972, Leicester have only lost one home game v Wolves from 26 meetings (W16 D9 L1). At either ground, there have been six draws in ten games between these sides on a Sunday. Leicester’s record v bottom six clubs this season (W1 D3 L2) is slightly better than Wolves’ (W1 D1 L3).

MUN v BOU – Bournemouth were undefeated last season v Man Utd including a 3-0 away in Manchester. Man Utd (W3 D1) are undefeated on a Sunday v Bournemouth, while Bournemouth are undefeated this season on a Sunday (W1 D1). Man Utd’s Sunday form is the very cubic W3 D3 L3. Man Utd haven’t won two in a row this season.

TOT v LIV – Spurs have won just one of their last 13 League games v Liverpool (W1 D2 L10) but at least the only win was at home last season. Liverpool are undefeated in seven Sunday games v Spurs (W5 D2). Both Liverpool and Spurs have won two games v big six clubs this season, the difference is the other result – a draw for Liverpool and a loss for Spurs.
