2024 Italian F1 Grand Prix Preview – Race Potential Rating
The Gurgler does like to use some obscure drivers in our Race previews and report, so who better to use than Teo Fabi to determine a race rating system.
So before each race we give a rating out of ten for four key category that are loosely based on each letter of Teo Fabi’s surname. Don’t know who Teo Fabi is, you should.
FAST? 10/10 – It’s called the Temple of Speed by some, and is still home of the fastest average speed lap, so yeah, it’s plenty fast. It’s also the Grand Prix which takes the shortest time.
ACTION? 7/10 – Long straights stopped by chicanes usually leads to action, whether it be some great late overtaking, or some terrible attempts to overtake. It’s also a track where strange winners pop up. There’s two wins here for Alpha Tauri / Toro Rosso, and Daniel Ricciardo even won here in a McLaren. No easy feat.
BIG HISTORY? – 10/10 – Been the home of the Italian Grand Prix since 1950, except for 1980 where it lost the annual race to Imola, but they soon worked out that Imola could be a race in another country – San Marino.
INCLEMENT WEATHER? – 3 /10 The Weather Channel says a 40% chance of a thunderstorm on the Sunday morning.
RACE RATING 75% – Historic, fast, and a place for different winners. Plenty to like.
