NRL | 2024 Round 4 Roosters v Panthers – One Minute Match Review

Round 4 Roosters v Panthers – SYDNEY ROOSTERS 16 – PENRITH PANTHERS 22.  The one-minute match report, giving you the bare minimum NRL in the bare minimum of time.

Penrith has opened the Easter long weekend with a win at the SFS. While Penrith dominated the majority of the game, the Eastern Suburbs club came back with two tries in the last six minutes (Brandon Smith, Daniel Tupou).

Though the Roosters declined the conversion after Tupou’s try, they couldn’t produce the miracle play to possibly take the game to Golden Point. Sunia Turuva scored a hat-trick as the Panthers established a 22-6 lead. Dylan Edwards lifted in Nathan Cleary’s absence, with a try and three goals.

There was some controversy after a Joseph Manu try was denied in the first half: Jared Waerea-Hargreaves was ruled to have obstructed Edwards from potentially getting across to defend, even though Edwards was behind the goalposts before he was impeded.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Some performance from Penrith without their general Nathan Cleary, and they are well on their way to a fourth title in a row. Considering the team they beat tonight is the one most fancy to take the title off them. Dylan Edwards also gave himself a chance of NSW Origin selection with another fine game against the Blues current fullback.

NRL 2024 Round 3 Roosters v Penrith

Penrith have not lost to the Roosters since Covid. That’s nine wins in a row with a last loss in 2019.

Penrith are undefeated against the Roosters on a Thursday as they have never met on a Thursday before.

The last six matches at Allianz Stadium between these two sides have seen less than 40 total points scored.

Dylan Edwards has already passed 1,000 run metres for 2024. More than 200 metres clear of next best Brian To’o.

Izack Tago’s efforts has seen Centres become the current top position for Line Break Assists and Try Assists.
