2024 Round 1 Manly v South Sydney – MANLY WARRINGAH 36 d SOUTH SYDNEY 24. Manly has won the first Las Vegas game at Allegiant Stadium.
The season opener lived up to the hype, with a total of 11 tries. Souths’ Richard Kennar scored the first and last tries, but Manly scored six tries in between, building on a 12-10 half-time lead.
Former Wests Tigers veteran Luke Brooks scored the match-sealing try for Manly, while Reuben Garrick kicked six goals from six attempts. It was a mixed night for Jason Saab: he scored a try just before half-time to give Manly the lead, but picked up a hamstring injury in the second half.
Both fullbacks were in fine form and will be key for each side’s chances at finals football. Luke Brooks had a decent debut with Manly and will enjoy winning and not being the whipping boy for a loss by Fox League writers.
