A rugby league fan has been converted to the NFL.
Alex (a diehard Brisbane Broncos fan) was invited to a Super Bowl party by some footy mates today.
“The first half was pretty boring, so I had half an eye on the game while scrolling the footy news on my phone.”
But his attention switched to the Kansas City Chiefs-San Francisco 49ers game as it got closer after half-time.
“That overtime period was absorbing! The Chiefs quarterback timed the winning touchdown perfectly. If only my Bronx could have done that last October!”
Feeling energised by the game, Alex told his mates he was going to start watching the NFL from next September.
“I might pick the Denver Broncos as my team. I have Kayo on my phone, ipad, and telly, so there’s no excuse not to follow through. I love the NFL now.”
After inventing a time machine*, Everyday News Staff Writers travelled to late September 2024 and caught up with Alex to see if he’d followed through.
“The NFL thing? Nah, I’m not doing that now. I watched a few replays on Kayo, but then the mighty Bronx got on a big winning streak. After they win the grand final, I’ll be too busy celebrating, and then the cricket starts. I don’t have time for American sports. But I’ve always got the Super Bowl.”
