EVERYDAY NEWS – The Struggling Crime Show

A new British crime show has been panned by critics.

EDM Murder is set on the party island Ibiza, where two rival EDM (Electronic Dance Music) DJs are forced to work together to solve crimes after a spate of unexplained murders.

But critics were quick to tear the show apart.

“Despite the clever name, this show has plot holes bigger than the crowds in the Ibiza dance festival scenes. How are two DJs able to solve crimes when they clearly have ZERO detective experience? And where are the REAL police?”

“I get the feeling the writers thought of the title first and then tried to shoehorn a formulaic and predictable crime drama around it.”

“This idea may have worked as a YouTube video, but once the shaky gimmick wears off, it becomes a derivative 60-minute ‘murder of the week’ slog.”

The writer of EDM Murder, Peter Peterborough, has responded to the criticism.

“I admit the title came first and we worked backwards, but we’ve been doing ok on BritBox. Everyone loves crime dramas: Midsomer Murders has been going for a million years and it’s still popular. If we get a second season we might introduce a detective sidekick to keep the snobs happy. At least the official soundtrack – with 40 EDM tracks – is doing well.”
