A local introvert has started a new business.
The idea came when Adam was dragged to a work party one Friday night.
“It was the end of the week and I just wanted to go home and chill. But Peter – one of my extrovert workmates – could see my lack of enthusiasm and was nice enough to be my guide for the party.”
Peter was more than happy to take the bulk of the socialising while Adam quietly had a few drinks.
Before leaving the party, Adam thanked Peter for being so helpful. That’s when the idea came to him.
“Hire an Extrovert is going to be an app for introverts who want to avoid all the necessary socialisation in their daily lives: chatting at boring parties, giving speeches, making scary phone calls, so on and so on,” said Adam.
“Local extroverts create a profile and introverts can select the most suitable one. I’m aiming to grade the extroverts based on their strengths: the ones who love social situations, the ones who love confrontation, the ones who can give big presentations. There’s a lot to choose from. The introverts pay a small subscription fee, and the extroverts are paid a commission after their job is done. It’s not much for now, but hopefully it grows.”
Peter was one of the first to put up a profile.
“It sounds like fun. I’m always looking for stuff to do on the weekends, so this gig work will keep me busy. And I get to meet lots of new people. Win-win!”
