2023 NRL Finals Week 3 Tips Weekly H2H Stats
Looking for a cheat sheet for the weekend’s upcoming games?
Here’s as much information that we could cram into one size fits all visual.
PENRITH v MELBOURNE
The last two teams to win an NRL Premiership meet one week short of the Grand Final, where Penrith couldn’t be blamed for wanting revenge on the 2020 Grand Final.
Penrith continue to dominate the competition, and although they have had to deal with a few more injuries and a bit more bad luck than previous seasons, they are still favourites to win the 2023 NRL title, and rightly so.
Melbourne on the other hand it could be argued have had an up and down season, with some performances in the second half of the season being quite underwhelming. You could also argue that the Storm are lucky to be here after a referee howler last weekend. Although, those went either way, so her Melbourne are. Or were after this weekend.
STATS BARELY INTERESTING STATS

BRISBANE v WARRIORS
Two of the NRL’s great improvers for 2023 meet at Suncorp Stadium for a chance at a long overdue Grand Final appearance. It’s been 12 years since the Warriors have played in the NRL Grand Final, and a further five further back for Brisbane when they last appeared. And won.
The Warriors carry a loaded bandwagon of Warriors fans, New Zealand well-wishers and neutral fans whose choices are limited. And they are every chance of upsetting the Broncos on Saturday night and trying to win their first ever NRL Premiership. They’ll have loads of support in Brisbane and over the NRL universe.
Brisbane have been sensational for most of the 2023 season, with the former Warriors fullback Reece Wlash at the heart of most things good, and a few things bad. Of the teams left, they are the side that will worry the Panthers the most with their slightly ad hoc style and Souths outcast Adam Reynolds steering the side.
It has to be the most exciting of the two finals games on offer this weekend.
BARELY INTERESTING STATS
- Brisbane have won eight games in a row on Saturday and have won 10/11 this season on Saturday.
- Warriors are 3/6 on a Saturday this season.
- Warriors have won two of the last three games v Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium. But not the last one in 2021.
- Brisbane have won their last four finals games at home on a Saturday, and conceded either 10 or 12 points on those four occasions.
- Warriors are 2/6 for finals matches away on a Saturday.
- Going back to 2020, the Warriors have won just two of 11 matches away to Qld sides.
- Warriors have lost all their games v fellow top four candidates.
