EVERYDAY NEWS – The Acting Comeback

A former action movie and TV star has made a surprise comeback.

Now 40, Zoe Ganoff was the in hit action/spy TV show Undercover from 2000-2005, and was in a handful of action movies until 2010, when she voluntarily stepped away to start a family. But she’s found an unlikely pathway back to TV.

”It’s the funniest story. I bought The Hellwick Saga books for my girls for Christmas, and we’ve spent a lot of time reading them. It’s a fun fantasy with some great pre-teen heroes,” said Zoe.

”I was raving about the books to Cathy [Zoe’s agent] and – funnily enough – she said Netflix have commissioned a 10-episode series based on the books, and said they were looking for someone to play the mother. At first I wasn’t interested, but Cathy convinced me to at least audition, do it for my girls. It worked!”

After a decade away from acting, Zoe took a while to adjust to the long shooting hours, but enjoyed rehearsing her lines with her two girls and her husband.

”They were in heaven. They were all putting on a real show – it made it so much fun and it means a lot that they’re being so supportive. And the script is faithful to the books.”

While The Hellwick Saga won’t air on Netflix until September, Zoe is hoping it leads to more work.

”As much as I’ve enjoyed being a mother, part of me missed acting, and I’m happy to stay with Hellwick for as long as possible. I’d also love to star in a Marvel movie and kick ass again, just like in the Undercover days.”

Everyday News is a brand new general news/parody section of The Gurgler, and definitely not a lame rip-off of ‘The Betoota Advocate’. We swear.
