Despite all the State of Origin hype, the 2023 NRL Season still exists, and so does our stat-filled preview of the upcoming weekend of rugby league with our 2023 NRL Round 14 Tips Stats Preview + Alternative Tips.

Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats, probably more than one could ever need or want.

We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.

This week with winter upon us, we have tips based on winning % of teams in winter.

Short on inspiration? Or looking for that edge to your tipping that no one else in your competition has? Well here are the Alternative NRL Tips for this round.

With the coldest months of the year here, we wondered if some teams are worse off in winter than other months.

So we have the winning % of each team for June, July and August since 1998, and the higher the winning %, the more likely that team will win this weekend.

2023 NRL Round 14 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Dolphins have won their only game at Dolphin Oval, but lost their only Thursday game this season.

Wests Tigers have lost five in a row v Canberra and nine of their last ten.

Just two of the 40 meetings between these sides has happened on a Friday. The H2H is one each with games going to the away side on both occasions.

Wests Tigers have lost five in a row on a Friday at Campbelltown and won just 3 of 13 overall on a Friday there.

Every team that has lost their first game after their first bye (four) have gone on to win the second match after the first bye. Including the Dolphins last weekend.

Dolphins are W1 L2 for away games outside Qld this season.

Warriors have lost 11/13 on Saturday anywhere.

Gold Coast have lost seven in a row v South Sydney and 13/15. Plus seven in a row at home to the Rabbitohs.

Gold Coast have won two of their last 13 home games v Sydney sides on a Saturday.

Broncos have won eight of their last ten games v Cronulla.

Broncos have won all three away games this season v Sydney opposition.

Roosters and Bulldogs both have a 50% winning record against fellow Sydney clubs at Central Coast Stadium.

Roosters have won three in a row v Bulldogs on a Sunday and three in a row at Central Coast Stadium.

Roosters have also won 15 of their last 18 clashes against Sydney teams on a Sunday.

Cowboys have won six of their last seven Sunday games.

Melbourne have won all three Sunday clashes v North Queensland, scoring 34 points or more.

Melbourne may have lost their most recent Sunday fixture v Canberra last season, but their overall record on a Sunday is incredible. They have won 18 of the 20 Sunday matches from 2019, and with a for an against of 639-262.

Melbourne have won eight straight games v Qld opposition anywhere on a Sunday, with their last loss for this stat coming in 2015.

Melbourne have also won eight straight in Qld on a Sunday with the last loss coming in 2012.

Penrith have won five straight v Dragons with the Dragon’s last win coming in 2017. Although the Dragons lead the H2H on a Sunday by 7-3.

Penrith have won 11 of their last 12 games on a Sunday.

Proving Queenslanders don’t like the cold in winter, two Queensland sides (North Queensland / Gold Coast) have the worst winning % in Winter and Brisbane drop from fourth best winning % to sixth best.
