WOODEN SPOONERS EXCLUSIVE – WE DISCOVER HOW THE NRL MAKE BUNKER / JUDICIARY DECISIONS
Very few rugby league fans can follow the NRL official’s decision anymore.
What’s a hip drop? Is that a shoulder charge or not. How does the Dolphin’s Kaufusi get four weeks and a Roosters player a fine for the same hit?
Well wonder no more.
The Wooden Spooners team have discovered the instrument at the heart of all NRL on field decision making. A Chocolate Wheel.
Whilst the wheel has more personality than most NRL officials, and is more consistent than most, it is a concern that such randomness is central to deciding what happens, but it does explain why most fans can’t follow the calls.
But we guess, how else can you explain the Bunker and Judiciary decision making.
BRANDON SMITH – THE DOUBLE AGENT
The Roosters were one of the favourites heading into the 2023 NRL season, but things haven’t quite worked out for them so far this season, the thrashing by Penrith was the latest in a long line of disappointments.
Some blame an unbalanced side due to their Salary Cap verandah. Some defend them as say injuries. Or maybe it is the fault of rugby union converts.
And some blame Brandon Smith’s arrival to the Roosters, and our Wooden Spooners team say this is true, but not as you’d expect.
Thanks to our Melbourne spy, who because they live in Victoria and like rugby league don’t have to go too far undercover, have actually found that Brandon Smith is a double agent plant by the Storm to take down the Roosters from the inside, and it seems to be working.
The Roosters have looked much worse than since Smith’s arrival, and the club also lost a few good players to make room for him. It was a carefully laid out plan, and explains why Melbourne didn’t seem too angry with his departure. Craig Bellamy did look angry, but we are assured that he is always angry and always looks like that.
When we approached Brandon Smith for comment he told us to bugger off.
NRL BALL HAS TO BE PUT DOWN AFTER SMASHING INTO JUSTIN OLAM’S HEAD
The Melbourne-Broncos clash on Thursday night had quite a few contentious moments, and one came late in the game as a try to Xavier Coates was disallowed for a knock on, but was later found to have been smashed into Justin Olam’s head instead.
While the TV cameras continued to follow the on field action, eagle eyed Wooden Spooners team cast their eye backwards to the scene of Olam incident to see a badly damaged NRL ball quickly deflating.
Seems that hitting rugby league’s toughest head, and player most likely to be built from concrete is no good for NRL balls.
The ball was thrown into the crowd as a momento.
RUGBY LEAGUE PANEL SHOW BIG ON PRIVACY AND MORAL STANDARDS EERILY QUIET ON ONE PANEL MEMBER BEING ARRESTED
Rugby league fans rejoiced at the karma of a certain high profile rugby league journalist being arrested over the weekend, especially one who seems who continually bashes other teams and clubs (Not Canberra, never Ricky Stuart) about standards in life.
It was a little surprising that the team of people who make it their business in letting go of other people’s personal stuff, allow one of their own to sneak out of the limelight with a “personal reasons” tagline.
Actually it’s not that surprising, as News Ltd are a law unto themselves. One wonders if we’ve seen the last of Paul K_nt.
