The 2023 NRL Season rolls on, and so does our stat-filled preview of the upcoming weekend of rugby league with our 2023 NRL Round 12 Tips Stats Preview + Alternative Tips.

Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats, probably more than one could ever need or want.

We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.

This week with the term “Origin Bolter” being thrown around we have alternative tips based on each team’s form pre-Origin One.

With the State of Origin coming up and guaranteed to ruin the NRL for a few months, we have this week’s alternative tips based on the interstate series.

We have a whole NRL Stats in Depth coming on Pre/Post Origin form coming soon, but for this week we’ll use the pre-State of Origin form. The higher the win % for games over the past 10 seasons (excluding 2020) the more likely that team will win this weekend. Simples.

2023 NRL Round 12 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Brisbane scored 13 in their previous game against Penrith and won, before that they scored 12 points in four games in a row and lost.

Penrith lead Broncos 2-1 on Thursday night. All games at Suncorp Stadium.

Penrith have lost both Thursday night away games in 2023.

Penrith have won four games straight on a Thursday v Qld sides.

Broncos have lost eight of their last nine home games on a Thursday.

Souths are W2 L2 at the SFS since it’s renovation. Souths have won just one of their last five in non-Roosters clashes at the SFS.

Parramatta have lost seven straight at the SFS with their last win coming in 2009, when Jarryd Hayne was known for being just a good rugby league player.

Dragons won their last game on a Friday at Jubilee Stadium but lost their previous four before that.

Roosters have won eight of their last nine v Dragons.

Roosters have won 13 straight games v Dragons not on Anzac Day.

Cronulla are unbeaten in four games v Sydney clubs at non regular NRL venues.

Cronulla are unbeaten in two games at Coffs Harbour conceding exactly 10 points on both occasions.

Tigers have lost four straight at Leichhardt.

North Queensland’s record at Leichhardt Oval is W2 L10.

North Queensland have scored 18 points in their last three visits to Leichhardt on a Saturday. In the other game they scored zero and the opposition scored 18.

Wests Tigers have actually won five of their past seven clashes v Queensland sides, and have beaten all three teams (not including Dolphins).

Despite having the best Suncorp Stadium record with a whopping 76% win rate, Melbourne have lost four of their last five fixtures at Suncorp Stadium. They have actually lost their last four in a row at that ground on a Saturday. And their last two games v Qld sides on Saturday.

Dolphins are undefeated at Suncorp Stadium on a Saturday.

Bulldogs are undefeated in four home games v Gold Coast on a Sunday.

Bulldogs have won 14 of their last 21 games on a Sunday to Qld teams. And 9/12 at home.

Canberra have lost their past 12 clashes with Manly on a Sunday. Including their last five at home. Canberra last beat Manly on a Sunday in 2003.
