F1 | 2023 Miami Grand Prix Preview

The 2023 F1 Season quickly jets halfway across the world in under a week, as the world’s best drivers fight it out for glory on the Miami F1 track around a football stadium and here to predict the winners and losers in advance is our 2023 Miami Grand Prix Preview.

The Gurgler’s 2023 Miami Grand Prix Preview brings some thoughts on the race itself, a few bold predictions here and there, a few barely interesting stats and best bets.

Essentially a quick summary of what a casual F1 fan needs in the shortest possible time.

While the circuit map itself looks like a badly drawn child drawing of an alligator’s head, which makes sense since the race is in Florida.

We guess it’s as good a track as you can make around a stadium, along a canal and under a highway.

2023 Miami Grand Prix Preview – Race Rating

F1 2023 - Fabi Preview Index Feature Image

The Gurgler does like to use some obscure drivers in our Race previews and report, so who better to use than Teo Fabi to determine a race rating system.

So before each race we give a rating out of ten for four key category that are loosely based on each letter of Teo Fabi’s surname. Don’t know who Teo Fabi is, you should.

FAST? 3/10 – There’s a few long straights, but overall is a standard modern street track. The section from turns 11 to 16 is particularly meh.

ACTION? 3/10 – There’s some walls which always gives a chance of a mistake inspired Safety Car to catch out the slow to react teams for strategy which is the best chance to mix up the order these days.

BIG HISTORY? – 0/10 Only one race has been run, and it’s on a track around a football stadium in a city which has little interest in the F1 side of things compared to the Netflix inspired celebrity of it all.

INCLEMENT WEATHER? – 5/10 According to The Weather Channel, there’s a 24% chance of rain on Sunday. We like those odds, and ironically it might be a chance for the harbour on the race track to have actual water in it.

RACE RATING 28% – As you can tell, we’re not fans of the race, circuit or event. But happy to be proven wrong.

feature image preview memorable moments

As ever we like to reminisce about Formula 1 here at The Gurgler, with the fondest of memories of 1980’s / 1990’s Formula 1. Especially with the Voice of F1 Murray Walker providing the soundtrack.

There has only been one Miami Grand Prix, so here is the best moments from that race.

But seriously. There have been some great races in the United States like Long Beach, Dallas, Indy, but probably not Phoenix.

So here’s a few of the better races from the States.

1982 DETROIT GRAND PRIX

1983 LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX
