Welcome to the next installment of a series of 2023 NRL Stats in depth, where we take a certain NRL stat or game and take a deep dive into the interesting and important stats that matter. This week we look into the weekend’s biggest games, the traditional NRL Anzac Day Matches between Roosters v Dragons and Storm v Warriors.

NRL Anzac Day Matches – Roosters v Dragons
- The designated home team has won the last six Anzac Day clashes between the Roosters and Dragons. For the record the Roosters are the home team this weekend.
- It’s one win a piece for Anzac Day clashes on a Tuesday. The loser scored 12 points in both games. The home side won both games.
- The last time the Dragons headed into the Anzac Day clash ahead on the ladder was in 2018 when they were top of the table with W6 L1. They went on to win the Anzac Day clash that season. And went on to finish 7th by season’s end as the Roosters took the minor premiership.
- A team has scored over 30 points only three times in 20 years of Roosters v Dragons Anzac Day clashes, and all three were the Roosters who scored exactly 34 points each time.
- Dragons have only passed 20 points once in the last nine Anzac Day clashes.
- The Dragons have averaged more points per game this season than the Roosters (21.3 v 17.6)
- The first five Anzac Day clashes were decided by four or less points. Four of the last seven clashes have been decided by two points or less.

NRL Anzac Day Matches – Storm v Warriors
- 2015 does not appears here as Melbourne played Manly on Anzac Day that season. Storms lost 10-12 for the record.
- Melbourne have scored just four fewer points in total from their 12 Anzac Day clashes as the Dragons have from 20 Anzac Day matches.
- The last four Anzac Day clashes between Storm and Warriors has seen 227 points. The last seven Dragons v Roosters clashes total is 223 points.
- On the four occasions the Warriors have kept the Storm to under 20 points, they have won three games and lost by one point in the other. The Warriors are averaging just under 20 points against this season, although that does rise when away from home.
- Warriors have never scored more than 20 points in an Anzac Day clash with Melbourne.
- Melbourne have won the only Tuesday clash between the sides on Anzac Day.
- This will be the first season since 2018 that the Warriors head into the Anzac Day clash ahead on the ladder. The Warriors went on to lose 50-10.
- Warriors and Storm heading into this match are the second and third most penalised teams this season.
