The 2023 NRL Season rolls on, and so does our stat-filled preview of the upcoming weekend of rugby league with our 2023 NRL Round 7 Tips Stats Preview + Alternative Tips.

Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats, probably more than one could ever need or want.

We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.

Since every team that topped the penalty count in Round 6 lost, why not look at each team’s penalty count in the 2023 season so far to pick alternative winners this week.

2023 NRL Round 7 Tips – Alternative Tips – Most Penalties in 2023

Short on inspiration? Or looking for that edge to your tipping that no one else in your competition has? Well here are the Alternative NRL Tips for this round.

This week it is simple – we noticed that every team that lost the penalty count this weekend didn’t win. So we will then presume that the team giving away the most penalties this whole season so far is more likely to loss this week.

2023 NRL Round 7 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

South Sydney have a W2 L1 record at Suncorp Stadium on a Thursday.

Dolphins are unbeaten at home to teams outside of QLD.

Roosters have won seven in a row against Cronulla.

Sharks have won three of four Friday games v Roosters, but not the most recent in 2018.

Sharks have won six of their last seven games at Shark Park on a Friday.

The infamous Battle of Brookvale game in 2011 between Manly and Melbourne is the only time that the Sea Eagles have beaten the Storm in eight contests on a Friday between the sides.

Manly have lost ten straight games on a Friday v all opposition.

Melbourne have won seven straight away games on a Friday and 16 of their last 17 anywhere on a Friday.

Warriors have lost their last four games at Mt Smart Stadium on a Saturday, although one of those games was in 2022 and the previous three were in 2019.

Penrith have won six in a row v Newcastle and 11 of the last 12 matches. Newcastle’s last win came back in 2018.

Penrith have lost just two of the 25 Saturday games they have played since 2020. Both of those losses coming in Townsville.

Newcastle have won just two of their past 13 home games on a Saturday v Sydney teams.

Broncos are 4/5 for trips to the Gold Coast on a Saturday.

Gold Coast have lost their last five games v Qld opposition and won just twice in 15 games v Qld opposition on a Saturday.

Broncos have won just two of 12 games away from home on a Saturday from 2020.

Canberra have won all five home games on a Sunday v Dragons.

Bulldogs and Parramatta have met eight times on a Sunday since 1998, and Parramatta have won the last four and Bulldogs the previous four in a row.

Parramatta have won five straight home games on a Sunday.

Bulldogs have won just one of their past 11 games away from home on a Sunday to Sydney teams.
