A Brisbane man’s patience with his favourite TV rewatch podcast is growing thin.
As a big fan of police drama Rescue Force, Peter was excited when three of the show’s actors started an official rewatch podcast last year.
But with The Rescue Force Podcast entering its second second earlier this year, that enthusiasm is waning.
“I enjoyed it at first – I was rewatching the episodes so I could follow along and there were some fascinating behind-the-scenes stories. There’s a few fan podcasts about the show, but they don’t get this level of insider detail.”
Though, as the first season ended, Peter started seeing cracks.
“The stories were getting longer and longer and episode lengths blew out to almost 90 minutes. The season one finale went for two hours! This isn’t bloody Full Credit to the Boys!”
Peter has a theory to what happened.
“After a few years away from the show, the actors realised how much fun they had back in the day, so they decided to reminisce more. That’s fine, but this is a rewatch podcast, not a celebrity gossip podcast.”
Peter said he stopped listening to the last podcast episode after 30 minutes. “They barely covered the episode and were too busy talking about the f*****g Oscars. The NRL’s back, so by the time I get through all my footy pods, there’s not a lot of time left for everything else. I can’t afford to waste it on rambling garbage.”
But Peter is willing to give the pod one more week, mainly out of loyalty to the show.
“I know it’s stupid, but I figure if I’m a fan of the show, I should like the podcast too. But if it gets too rambly, I’m done. For good. I mean it.”
Everyday News is a brand new general news/parody section of The Gurgler, and definitely not a lame rip-off of The Betoota Advocate. We swear.
