A new season, but the same old stat-filled preview of the upcoming weekend of rugby league is here with our 2023 NRL Round 4 Tips Stats Preview + Alternative Tips.

Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats, probably more than one could ever need or want.

We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.

For the first big Battle of Brisbane clash, our alternative tips are in honour of the Dolphins.

2023 NRL Round 4 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Parramatta and Penrith have only met once before on a Thursday – and Penrith won in 2019. But Parramatta have won the last two at Bankwest/Commbank Stadium.

Penrith have won 12 of their last 13 games on a Thursday, going back to May 2019. It’s seven in a row on a Thursday vs Sydney clubs.

Melbourne have won 14/16 of their home games v Wests Tigers since 2000.

Wests Tigers have beaten Melbourne in their last two Friday games.

Broncos have won seven games in a row against Qld opposition on a Friday night at Suncorp Stadium, and 16 of the last 17 going back to April 2012.

North Queensland Cowboys have won nine in a row against the Gold Coast on a Saturday and seven in a row at home on Saturday.

The Cowboys have also won 12 in a row at home on a Saturday v sides from outside Sydney and Canberra. The last loss to this group was in 2016.

South Sydney have won 13 in a row at home on a Saturday night.

Manly have won just two of their last 14 away games.

Bulldogs haven’t won at Mt Smart Stadium since 2012, although there has only been three losses in a row since.

However, the Warriors have only won 2/8 Sunday games v Bulldogs at Mt Smart Stadium.

Newcastle have won just one of their last Sunday

Cronulla have won five in a row v Dragons.
