What a season 2023 is so far, especially for those Dolphins fans who are riding high on an unexpectedly lofty ladder position. Talking of highs, our high quality stat-filled preview of the upcoming weekend of rugby league is here with our 2023 NRL Round 3 Tips Stats Preview + Alternative Tips.

Each week we offer up a quick preview glance for each match, a bunch of barely interesting stats, probably more than one could ever need or want.

We also offer up some alternative tips. These alternative tips are often based on a rugby league stat, and sometimes something completely absurd, and are aimed at those NRL tipsters who just can’t be bothered.

This week is based on a statistical quirk, as last weekend saw 7/8 games decided on team nickname alphabetical order.

2023 NRL Round 3 Tips – Alternative Tips – Alphabetical Order

2023 NRL Round 3 Barely Interesting Stats Summary

Here we take the best points of interest for each match coming up this weekend, and share them with you for no cost. Feel free to share with friends and family.

Parramatta have won the only game on a Thursday against Manly back in 2016.

Manly have won just two of their 11 Thursday night games against Sydney clubs, which dates back until 2013.

Going back to 2018, Newcastle have won 11 of their last 12 home games v Queensland sides.

South Sydney have lost all seven games against the Roosters on a Friday night at the Sydney Football Stadium dating back to 2002.

Melbourne have won eight straight against the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast have lost all three Saturday games v Melbourne at home.

Melbourne have lost just one of their last 29 games v Queensland sides. Their last loss was to the Cowboys last season, but before that it was in March 2017 against the Gold Coast at Suncorp Stadium.

North Queensland have won 13 of their last 15 home games v Warriors.

The Cowboys are also on a six game winning streak at home v all sides on a Saturday.

Warriors have lost seven away games in a row v Queensland sides.

Dragons have won six of their seven v Broncos. But have lost five in a row at Suncorp Stadium.

Wests Tigers have lost 16 in a row on a Sunday.

Bulldogs have lost eight of their last nine games at Belmore.

Canberra have won eight straight v Cronulla. The Sharks last beat Canberra in 2018.
