EVERYDAY NEWS – The Footy Compromise

With the NRL resuming next weekend (Thursday March 2), a father of two has been stacking in as many activities as possible on his last footy-free weekend.

As a passionate Broncos fan, Trevor is looking forward to spending every Thursday or Friday night on the couch watching his team live on Channel Nein (and their occasional non-Nein games on Kayo). But on one condition.

“The misso is fine with me watching the mighty Bronx every weekend, but I have to spend time with the kids when the Bronx aren’t playing.”

This meant a massive weekend of family activities before the Broncos’ first game next Friday.

“It’s been deadset chockers mate. We went to a local play Friday night, took the dogs to the park Saturday, went to the movies Saturday night, and are having Sunday lunch with the in-laws. I’m going to need the week to recover before the footy starts.”

While Brisbane have a tough opener against Penrith, Trevor is hopeful of a better 2023.

“The boys would still be hurting from that late fadeout last year. Hopefully Kevvie’s ripped into them over summer and got them ready to play finals again.”

Even when the season starts, Trevor will still spend the nights the Broncos don’t play doing family stuff.

“I don’t mind. It keeps the kids happy and the misso off my back. I only care about the Broncos anyway.”
