EVERYDAY NEWS – Triskaidekaphobia Strikes Again

A man’s irrational fear of the number 13 (also known as Triskaidekaphobia) has taken hold at his office.

Peter – who works in the accounts team at an insurance agency – was working away at his chosen desk 14 when his laptop battery died.

”For some reason my laptop was plugged in but not charging at that desk, so I had to move.”

His irrational fear then took hold when his supervisor suggested he move to the empty neighbouring desk (numbered 13).

”I started to get a bit nervous. My logical brain knew nothing was going to happen, if something did happen, I’d always wonder ‘was it because of desk 13?’ I didn’t bother saying anything, as I know how stupid it sounds.”

Luckily, Peter needn’t have worried, as the computers at desk 13 weren’t working, so he went to desk 18, where he was able to charge his laptop and keep working, with nothing bad happening for the rest of the day.

”I’ll be honest, I was relieved to move to 18. That’s a much safer number.”

Everyday News is a brand new general news/parody section of The Gurgler, and definitely not a lame rip-off of The Betoota Advocate. We swear.
