Group D France v Denmark Match Summary

France remains one of the very few teams on a 100% winning record after two games following a 2-1 win over their hardest opponent for the tournament.

They didn’t get it all their own way, with Denmark equalising in between two Kylian Mbappe goals which brings his total so far to three goals for the tournament.

The result means France have essentially qualified for the next round. And it puts Denmark in a bit of trouble with just one points from two games and Australia winning their game unexpectedly.

Group D France v Denmark Match Preview

Why should you care?

France were plenty good against Australia, with their superstar forwards all heavily involved, and some of their play was quite exciting. Even as an Australian fan suffering for the second half.

Kylian Mbappe is a reason to watch any French game too. What a player he is and he was very good against Australia.

Despite the 0-0 scoreline, Denmark were pretty good against Tunisia and this shapes as a genuine taster for the knockout stages.

Who should you care about?

If you like Australian comedian or French strikers in general then a player to watch is Olivier Giroud who is one goal away from owning the overall French goal scoring record. He scored twice against Australia after being famously goal shy in the 2018 World Cup which France won.

We also thought Antoine Griezmann was superb for France on game one, so look for him to have an impact.

IT seems boring to pick Christian Eriksen again for Denmark, but he is such a big influence and will need to be if Denmark have any chance of an upset.

Is there a barely interesting fact?

Denmark beat France in both Nations League games this season. Our H2H record above has excluded the most recent 2-0 win for Denmark.

This will be the fourth match between these sides at the World Cup. It’s a win a piece and a draw for the three clashes completed so far.

Who will win?
