Every gameweek we take a truckload of stats and compile them into our Captain’s table and then have a score out of 100 who we think should be captain.
But there’s more to your Fantasy Premier League than just the captain, along with the Captain’s Table is a load of key stats for general FPL knowledge. Read on and enjoy.
FPL GW4 Captain Preview – Captain’s Table
Here are the FPL Captain Picks GW4 results. A full explanation and full list of the stats and calculations are provided at the end.
Stats are based up to the previous GW except for scoring records v opposition. Where there is no opposition history we have all time Premier League season’s stats (in yellow text).
FPL Captain Preview GW4 Thoughts
HELLO – Mo Salah / Gabriel Jesus
Liverpool may not be travelling very well so far this season, but Mo Salah still manages to find a goal or assist. Looking forward to this week, Bournemouth at home looks a perfect fixture to find some form, Liverpool have won their last six games v Bournemouth by a margin of 21-1. Salah has eight goals in six games v Bournemouth, plus an assist.
Gabriel Jesus may be a more left field choice, but there’s a few things going for him. First of all, Arsenal’s home record v Fulham – they have not been beaten by Fulham in 30 attempts, including 24 wins. Of course Fulham do look better than they have in their previous Premier League campaigns but still. And for Jesus, his stats have been much better at home, although a small of data at the moment. Jesus has had three shots on goal in two away games, and his only home game saw seven shots and three on target for two goals and two assists. Jesus is also six clear for touches in the penalty box – from Salah and Mitrovic.
CALL ME MAYBE – Rodrigo / Anyone else from Manchester City / Harry Kane
Can Rodrigo keep the stats coming? He is second for shots behind Mitrovic, and in the top ten for touches in the penalty box. But he faces Brighton this weekend, a team who gave up just four shots (one on target) at their last home game, and were sixth best for fewest shots per game last season. But he does top our Captain Table and he and his team are on fire.
As ever with Man City it’s a wide range of choice, but mainly out of Kevin De Bruyne or Erling Haaland. But it is the fixture that has us concerned for taking them as captain. Man City’s home record to Crystal Palace is quite poor recently. Just the one win from the last four home clashes, with Crystal Palace taking two wins in that run, including last season’s 2-0 win. And Crystal Palace look at least as good as last season. Kevin De Bruyne’s record of three goals and eight assists v Palace still makes in tempting. If you don’t have Mo Salah.
Harry Kane‘s consistency gives him a shout for those who don’t want to win friends with Salah. He’s had a shot on target in every match, both home and away, and against all opposition types. And Spurs are playing Nottingham Forest, who despite looking good in their promotion season, are the worst team for giving up shots this season, with just over 20 per game. That’s four per game clear of next worst – Bournemouth.
GOODBYE – TAA / Manchester United Players
It’s probably getting to the point where FPL managers are considering whether Trent Alexander-Arnold is a hold for their FPL side, let alone captain, so we’ll say give it a miss.
As for Man Utd, one win (albeit an impressive win) doesn’t convince us yet. He of course could be wrong, and often are.
