EVERYDAY NEWS – The Latest TikTok Star

A Sydney comedian is determined to become the next TikTok star.

Sarah Madden (23) quit her mind-numbing call centre job and moved back in with her parents so she could concentrate on her TikTok dream full-time.

Sarah posts up to five videos each day, including ‘hillarious’ original sketches (where she plays every character), lip syncing to her favourite Disney songs, reaction videos to viral YouTube vidoes, and the occasional political commentary video (when she’s in a more serious mood).

“It’s always been my dream to be a comedian,” said Sarah. “I loved being the loud, extroverted, crazy life of the party at school and at uni, so comedy was a natural fit.”

While Sarah’s parents are happy to have her back at home, they’re not sure this TikTok thing will work out. “Yes, she’s a bright girl and loves being the centre of attention, but comedy is hard,” said Sarah’s dad. “I tried comedy back in the day: I played the clubs around Sydney and worked my arse off, but it didn’t lead anywhere. You need a lot of luck and work ethic to get noticed. I’ve never seen her play the clubs. Hell, she never leaves the house.”

“Hopefully this Tikky Tokker thing is a phase,” said Sarah’s mum. “It’s embarrassing watching her prance around the house with her phone recording those little videos. I’ve been talking to some of my friends about getting her another architecture job and out of the house again; it’ll be a big surprise.”

Rachel, Sarah’s best friend from uni, is sceptical about her ambitions. “Sarah was one of the best students when we studied architecture, but she quit her internship because ‘architecture was too boring’ and started doing this comedy thing. I’d understand if she was playing the clubs every night, but TikTok is for children and raging narcassists! I’ve tried to get her into club gigs, but she doesn’t want to as the crowd are too mean.”

When not making TikTok videos for her 50 followers, Sarah busies herself with a ‘vision board’ where she visualises what she’ll do when she’s rich and famous.

“The first thing is my own sitcom, something like Everybody Loves Raymond or Ellen, where I’m the star. Then a spin-off sketch comedy show, my own fashion or beauty line, and maybe my own talk show; the sky’s the limit!” said Sarah. “As soon as TikTok realises how funny I am, then I’ll be famous in no time!”

Everyday News is a brand new general news/parody section of The Gurgler, and definitely not a lame rip-off of ‘The Betoota Advocate’. We swear.
