While most comic book/superhero fans are looking forward to the latest Batman movie (The Batman), one social media movie reviewer is praying it fails.
Corey MacGill has been running The Hate Watcher YouTube channel (with a heavy presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok) for over a decade, and thrives on tearing apart bad movies.
Corey started in 2010 with a tiny YouTube account – called Corey’s Reviews – but his mediocre following skyrocketed after he saw the Green Lantern movie. Angry at the trainwreck of a film, Corey had a few drinks, fired up his webcam, and released an hour-long video destroying the movie and tearing apart the career of a post-Van Wilder, pre-Deadpool Ryan Reynolds. After his subscribers tripled in a few days, Corey rebranded himself and went all-in on the snarkily negative reviews.
While Corey secretly thinks he’ll enjoy The Batman, and plans to see it on opening night, he’s still going to pick holes in it for his hotly-anticipated video review, especially Robert Pattinson’s performance.
“I’m sure it’ll be a great movie, but I can make a KILLING pandering to the ‘Robert Pattinson is s*** because of Twilight‘ crowd. Probably 99% of Pattinson’s haters haven’t see any of the Twilight movies, and have forgotten that Pattinson trashed the movies publicly, but they still believe that Pattinson is the worst thing to happen to cinema since Ed Wood. I personally don’t agree with them, but sometimes its easier to play along with the trolls, give them what they want, and watch the money roll in!”
Everyday News is a brand new general news/parody section of The Gurgler, and definitely not a lame rip-off of ‘The Betoota Advocate’. We swear.
