Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League FPL Captain Picks GW22 Come for the Fantasy Premier Captain picks, stay for a plethora of FPL stats.
This is our first Captain’s Pick since GW16 as Covid made FPL way too hard to keep up.
Every gameweek we take a truckload of stats and compile them into our Captain’s table and then have a score out of 100 who we think should be captain.
Along with the Captain’s Table is a load of key stats for general FPL knowledge, like who is taking the most shots, chances created, FPL Bonus Points, our own Game Difficulty rating and more.
All of those stats await, but first help yourself to a seat at the Fantasy Premier League FPL Captain Picks GW22 Captain’s Table.
FPL Captain Picks GW22 Captain’s Table
Here are the FPL Captain Picks GW22 results. A full explanation and full list of the stats and calculations are provided at the end.
Stats are based up to the previous GW except for scoring records v opposition. Where there is no opposition history we have taken this season’s stats.
FPL Captain Picks GW22 Quick Analysis
This week is a little more complex than most weeks, with Mo Salah out.
The obvious choices come from the double game week players – especially Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, James Maddison and the two Chelsea selections above.
But really, it comes down to Ronaldo v Kane.
The argument for Harry Kane is strong. His scoring record v his opponents this GW is not only good, but the best for the week for both opponents. 11 goals and three assists in 16 games v Arsenal is quite good, but 17 goals and three assists v Leicester is even better.
Also on his side is the stat that the home side have not lost the last 15 games in this fixture. The least team to do it was Arsenal in March 2014. It’s nine wins and six draws for the home side, and the home side has not failed to score in any of those games.
It issue is whether Kane will be as good without Son. Spurs did look a little thin v Chelsea midweek in the League Cup.
As for Ronaldo, the two games he faces are a little easier, especially given that Brentford just gave up four goals v Southampton midweek.
But there is a touch less certainty about Ronaldo, with the injury warning still active on the FPL website, and it seems he is on the nose with some fellow players. Hopefully with the double game week he isn’t served up a lesson and benched. Surely not, but it is a risk that you probably wouldn’t have with Harry Kane.
Manchester United do have an incredible record v Aston Villa though, and Ronaldo a handy scoring record of his own.
Aston Villa haven’t beaten Man Utd at home this century. Their last win at home was in 1999 and it’s been L18 D5 since. Although they lost their clash with Villa, since 2000 the H2H is W34 D7 L2.
That leave James Maddison and the Chelsea players. For James Maddison there is too much doubt over himself, and whether Leicester’s games will go ahead because of Covid. And Chelsea’s matches don’t look like they’re going to see players cashing in with FPL points. Man City are in title winning form, and Brighton are proving hard to beat, and have drawn tow of their last three v Chelsea.
Of the single game week players it’s hard to ignore Jarrod Bowen from West Ham, maybe not for captain but inclusion into your time. His West Ham play Leeds who have been very hot and cold on the road this season. Mainly cold.
Liverpool assets are still worth thinking about given the uncertainty of games. Who knows how many games will go ahead. And games that are actually played are worth more than a game which is called off with hours to go until kick off.
Probably a week to stay away from Man City, as who knows who will play even if they make it to the pitch.
