Welcome to our Fantasy Premier League FPL Captain Picks GW10, a place to come for help on who to wear the armband for your fantasy team.
We take a truckload of stats and compile them into our Captain’s table and then have a score out of 100 who we think should be captain.
This week the decision is the easiest it has ever been, with Mo Salah breaking our record for highest score ever. But with hat tricks galore last weekend perhaps there’s an alternative?
Along with the Captain’s Table is a load of key stats for general FPL knowledge, like who is taking the most shots, chances created, FPL Bonus Points, our own Game Difficulty rating and more.
All of those stats await, but first help yourself to a seat at the Fantasy Premier League FPL Captain Picks GW10 Captain’s Table.
FPL Captain Picks GW10 Captain’s Table
Here are the FPL Captain Picks GW10 results. A full explanation of the stats and calculations are provided at the end.
We show only the top ten, the entire data is determined by our selection of the top 20 or so potential captain choices.
Stats are based up to GW9 except for scoring records v opposition. Where there is no opposition history we have taken this season’s stats.
FPL Captain Picks GW10 Analysis
Mo Salah is at the head of the Captain’s Table and with a near perfect score of 96. Only the Game Difficulty rating v Brighton letting him down as he topped all of our data categories of Scoring v Opposition, Form, Points, Stats, and Bonus Points. With form of 16.7 and a return of a goal + assist per game v Brighton, you’d have to be crazy to captain anyone else. Mo Salah’s expected goals figure of 7.50 for the season also beats Norwich entire season figure. So any possible vulnerability? Well, yes. Brighton didn’t lose to Liverpool last season (W1 D1) and Liverpool scored one goal in those games. Brighton are a better side this season too. But so are Liverpool, and Salah is in Best O World form. Why not check out our in depth players stats section below which has a full display of Mo’s work this season.
Mo’s brilliance is good timing heading into Mo-vember. Why not sign up for Movember – a charity cause where you get to grow a moustache for Men’s Health, and to look good.
But for those Mo-less few or those you like to be different here is the best of the rest.
Manchester City have a very winnable game this weekend v Crystal Palace on the back of a good win over Brighton last weekend. But as ever with Man City it is less about the player and more about the rotation. In saying that three players feature in our Top Ten FPL Captain’s picks. Kevin de Bruyne is second but was wasted last weekend v Brighton. Surely he starts this weekend. Lots of assists v Crystal Palace and a few goals makes him worth considering even just for your FPL. His ownership is around 5% so a great differential.
And who may get those assists? Well either Phil Foden or Gabirel Jesus of course, both made our top ten captain picks. Is either nailed though? Normally you’d call us crazy and never speak to us again for suggesting anyone at Man City is, but we do get the feeling that Foden may be given a decent crack. Against Foden is a scoreless record v Crystal Palace in two meetings. But who knows how much game time he got. 31 minutes is the total across two games. He has sat on the bench for the entire game three times and not in squad another v Crystal Palace.
Another hat trick king from last week Mason Mount sneaks into our top ten FPL Captain’s picks and so he should. Looks like he may well be the attacking focal point in the absence of Werner and Lukaku and Chelsea have a great run. Sure, they aren’t going to play a Norwich every week, but they will be hard to overlook on that form, and Mount is surely nailed now. At least for the next few games. Against Mount is his and his team’s record in Newcastle. Normally you think easy game but Chelsea have only won three of their last ten visits to Newcastle (W3 D2 L5). They have won just once in their last six trips to Newcastle on a Saturday. But the last start was a win. Still, Newcastle are pretty average this season. What luck for Chelsea playing last, second last, and third last in consecutive weeks.
Jamie Vardy sucked in a lot of FPL players last weekend, and of course he didn’t score and is potentially injured. If he plays though, he has a great record v Arsenal. Arsenal have scored one goal on the road this season. Only Norwich’s zero is worse, which doesn’t help Vardy score, but does highlight Arsenal aren’t great away.
Michail Antonio is always a factor, and the way Aston Villa allowed Arsenal to boss them around last weekend means Antonio could be in for a double scoring weekend we thinks. Aston Villa have lost all four of their away games in London this season. Michail Antonio and Sadio Mane are the only players in the top 10 for xG that are have scored fewer goals than xG says, so he’s due to catch up soon.
Spurs duo Son and Kane, which sounds like a poor musical duo in the corner of a half empty pub, and they didn’t get much of a tune out of themselves last weekend. Both had outstanding scoring records v West Ham yet 1-0 was the end result. Neither has a great scoring record against Man Utd, but they looked easy to score against last weekend.
Man Utd you ask? Well no one from their side is in our FPL Captain’s Table, and we’ll pass for now.
TOP TEN CAPTAIN PICKS STATS

CAPTAIN’S TABLE DATA EXPLAINED
If you’re after an explanation on the Captain’s Table data help yourself to the below.
Goals and Assists v Opposition are compiled and compared to the best return per game for each player against this week’s opposition. The top return is awarded 20 points and points are reduced on a sliding scale from there. For players who haven’t played against this week’s opposition we have used goals + assists per game from this season. They are coloured in gold text.
Form taken straight from the Official FPL website. The top return is awarded 30 points and points are reduced on a sliding scale from there.
FPL points per Minute is a measurement taking the overall FPL points scored by the minutes on the field. This is so injured players or mid season signings are disadvantaged. The top return is awarded 20 points and points are reduced on a sliding scale from there.
Key Stats per Game is our own in house combination of key FPL stats for each players, which is then compared to the top results and goes down on a sliding scale. The fields include Goals per Game, Shots per Game Assists per Game, Key Passesper Game, Shots On Target per Game, and Chances per Game. Top Player get a maximum of 10 points and awarded on a sliding scale from there.
Bonus Points we tally up the Bonus Points throughout the 2021-22 season. Top Player get a maximum of 10 points and awarded on a sliding scale from there.
Match Rater – in addition to our Captain’s Table we have also devised our own Premier League Fixture Difficulty which we have included for a max 10 points. Because we think that game itself should be rated as well.
Multiplier – we have taken each player’s record against big six clubs and Home/Away goalscoring trends and applied a multiplier based on positive or negative trend.
Total all the scores are combined for an overall total. Maximum is 100.
