Fox Sports will launch a brand new podcast featuring Melbourne Storm/Sydney Roosters/Queensland/Australian Kangaroos legend Cooper Cronk…but there’s a twist.
Called Cronksomnia, the daily podcast will feature Cronk talking about his greatest NRL games, Origins, and Test matches. The podcast is designed to make listeners fall asleep as fast as possible.
“We love our Cooper for his undoubted footy brain, but by Odin’s sacrificed eye he is boring!” said a Fox League spokesbot. “My wife was having trouble falling asleep recently, so I stuck on an old Fox League game for her. Cooper was commentating and going on about ‘A and B defenders’, ‘face balls’ and ‘sweep plays’. Lo and behold, the missus was asleep two minutes in and slept for eight straight hours. It was incredible! The podcast idea unfolded pretty easily from there.”
To ensure the podcast is as effective as possible, Cronk has been told to ‘deep dive’ into the matches and be as technical and obscure as possible.
“Cooper didn’t even question the title; he was just excited to talk footy and talk about himself,” said the spokesbot. “He’s done such a good job that even the biggest footy nerd will be out like a light five minutes in. I guarantee it!”
