This weekend it looks a one sided contest with Mo Salah in front, but with this season it is not always as it should be.

Along with the Captain’s Table is a load of key stats for your Fantasy team.

For now, help yourself to a seat at the Fantasy Premier League FPL Captain Picks GW8 Captain’s Table.

FPL Captain Picks GW8 Captain’s Table

We show only the top ten, the entire data is determined by our selection of the top 30 or so potential captain choices.

Stats are based up to GW7  except for scoring records v opposition. Where there is no opposition history we have taken this season’s stats.

FPL Captain Picks GW6 Analysis

Mo Salah is the runaway leader this week with an incredible scoring record v this weekend’s opponent – Watford – and is in red hot form in general. Including that goal v Man City. If you don’t have him then there’s plenty of options, if you do, you’ll need a very good excuse not to have him as captain. One negative we can see is Watford spoiled the Liverpool unbeaten streak last time they played, and they have a new manager in Claudio Ranieri coming in. For a new feature we have in depth look at Mo Salah’s stats for the season so far.

Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold also feature in our Captain’s Table, but if you have Mo, you’ll take Mo. But Mo-less FPL players should consider Mane too. Another one with good scoring stats v Watford.

Cristiano Ronaldo is out of our top ten surprisingly, so we may well look like chumps by the end of the weekend considering his scoring powers for Portugal midweek. But alas the Captain’s Table and computer says No.

Manchester City have beaten Burnley 5-0 four times in a row at home, so you know there’s goals coming. But with Man City it’s all about who plays as ever. Gabriel Jesus has a good scoring record v Burnley and you would think he starts. Ferran Torres also makes our top ten. But looming in the background of our Captain’s Table is Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden. Our stats above do tend to favour recent form a little so a lack of game time is hurting KDB and Foden for now. But with a potential bag of goals to share, they are worth considering from outside our top ten.

Ismaila Sarr is probably the biggest surprise this week sitting third on our table. Despite playing the might of Liverpool, Sarr has good scoring form against them. And they have a new manager, so we may get a bump on previous team form. Sarr has caught the eye against Liverpool a few times, so worth at least considering for your team if you’re in the market for value midfielders.

Jamie Vardy is on a scoring streak as he does from time to time and does score OK against bigger clubs. Need to cash in before the streak ends. Potentially with Brendan Rodgers leaving for Newcastle? According to rumours.

TOP TEN CAPTAIN PICKS STATS

FPL 2021-22 Fantasy Premier League Captain hello goodbye

HELLOMo Salah – A must if you have him.

CALL ME MAYBEMan City Players / Sadio Mane – If you don’t have Mo. Those consecutive 5-0 wins v Burnley are almost too hard to overlook. Except for the fact of Pep’s roulette.

GOODBYEMichail Antonio – We still love the big man, but are wondering if this is where West Ham start to leave their 21-22 form behind.

CAPTAIN’S TABLE DATA EXPLAINED

If you’re after an explanation on the Captain’s Table data help yourself to the below.

Goals and Assists v Opposition are compiled and compared to the best return per game for each player against this week’s opposition. The top return is awarded 20 points and points are reduced on a sliding scale from there. For players who haven’t played against this week’s opposition we have used goals + assists per game from this season.

Form taken straight from the Official FPL website. The top return is awarded 30 points and points are reduced on a sliding scale from there.

FPL points per Minute  is a measurement taking the overall FPL points scored by the minutes on the field. This is so injured players or mid season signings are disadvantaged. The top return is awarded 20 points and points are reduced on a sliding scale from there.

Key Stats per Game is our own in house combination of key FPL stats for each players, which is then compared to the top results and goes down on a sliding scale. The fields include Goals per Game, Shots per Game Assists per Game, Key Passesper Game, Shots On Target per Game, and Chances per Game. Top Player get a maximum of 10 points and awarded on a sliding scale from there.

Bonus Points we tally up the Bonus Points throughout the 2021-22 season. Top Player get a maximum of 10 points and awarded on a sliding scale from there.

Match Rater – in addition to our Captain’s Table we have also devised our own Premier League Fixture Difficulty which we have included for a max 10 points. Because we think that game itself should be rated as well.

Multiplier – we have taken each player’s record against big six clubs and Home/Away goalscoring trends and applied a multiplier based on positive or negative trend.

Total all the scores are combined for an overall total. Maximum is 100.
