WOODEN SPOONERS – The Six Again Reboot

The Man of Feathers Peter V’landys has taken drastic action to punish team for ‘gaming’ the controversial Six Again rule.

From 2022, the number of tackles will multiply for multiple offences in one set: so if a team concedes an early penalty it’s only six more tackles. But if they concede another penalty in the same set, then it’s an extra 12 tackles. Then it’s 18 tackles for a third offence, 24 for a fourth etc.

”This should send a clear warning to teams looking to exploit the Six Again rule. Go ahead and concede your cynical little penalty on the first tackle, but if you do it again on the same set, then you’d better be nice and fit, because you’ll be defending for a while,” V’landys said.

However, V’landys’ rule has been hammered, with many media experts fearing a rise in injuries through sheer exhaustion as well as cricket scores.

”This is ridiculous!” the eighth Immortal Andrew Johns said. “He’d deadset gonna turn The Greatest Game of All into rugby bloody union! Possession counts are gonna be farcical and watch the weaker teams drop off late in games. There could be 100 point scorelines next season!”

In a sign that this rule is a bad move, Paul ‘I played one first grade game’ Kent and Buzz ‘old man yells at cloud’ Rothfield actually agreed with each other and both condemned the rule during a special episode of NRL360.
